Also, the tree my friend’s house decided to drip all over the front of my truck when I was there last night…

 

Luckily, my friend had this detailing stuff that he’s letting me borrow this weekend; I’ve know the guy for nine years, I’ve been parking in that exact spot whenever I go to visit, and that’s the first time in almost a decade that this happened! At first I thought it was bird shit!

I show my truck at the Carlisle Truck Nationals every year, and this is my first year with the American flag license plate on the front (see below)…



Some fat drunk guy decided to take it upon himself to call me out for driving a Japanese truck with an American flag on it. Anybody who’s been to the Carlisle Fairgrounds knows about the steep hill. I was driving up the hill and this asshole steps out into the paved part and puts his hand up to get me to stop.

People stop me all the time to compliment the truck and whatnot, so I thought nothing of it; Once I stopped, he demanded know why I was displaying the American flag on a Japanese truck. At first I thought he was just busting my balls, but then I realized he was not and was actually being quite hostile; I get busted on by owners of American trucks all the time and it’s all in good fun, but this was different…

He started going on about how the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and called me a “Commie” for driving a Japanese truck. He then used a word that I cannot and will not repeat here on TW, and at this point I told him to go fuck himself.

I caught his drunken tirade on my dashcam and am still debating whether or not to upload it to YouTube.

I started to drive away, but he kept running his mouth, so I got out of the truck and told hime to look for his rant on YouTube because my dashcam had recorded the whole thing; He said he didn’t care.

 

Once I drove to the top of the hill, I happened to notice a security guard chilling in a golf cart with a Carlisle Events logo on it and stopped to tell him what happened; I told him how I have Asperger’s Syndrome, how I don’t like people in my personal bubble, and that I felt rather threatened by this guy.

The security guard was very nice, and said he would talk to the guy; “Buy American” people generally piss me off, but this fatass took it to another level!

 

It's so hard to walk away, I always confront these idiots and make my self out worse than if I had just walked away.

The tacoma was made in the USA. That guy is an idiot. The truck even has a US city for a name.

 

This is the first time anything like this has ever happened; One time last year at a local show, some guy in a lifted 1986 Chevy 2500 called my truck a Prius, but it was all in good fun and wasn’t mean-spirited…

 

If he was informed he would know that Toyota Trucks had more US made parts in them than most domestics for a time (not sure if its still the case)

 

Most Toyota is made in the USA, some domestics are now either made north or south of said USA.

 

I was only trying to be patriotic!

 

I generally like to buy American when I can but sometimes you have to realize that even if it is made overseas it is still developed in the US, example being Milwaukee Tools. Either way if the Tacoma was still completely overseas I wouldn't care. I'll take something that won't break after its warranty cycle. Toyota employs a large amount of the US workforce so I support them even more. They make less junk laying around because they last longer too... save the earth ya know...

 

Hate to say it, people gonna hate, no matter what. He's obviously triggered, maybe he lost his job, maybe lost a wife or kid. We'll never know. Just keep your patriotism going, cause if I saw your truck with an USA flag on it I'd cheer you on and give you a thumbs up for being proud to be an American. Enjoy your truck don't worry about the agitators.

 

The Japanese weren't communist though? What if you said you were of Japanese heritage? I bet he'd shut up and be proud. laughs.

He was just drunk and not happy about it.

 

Honestly the confederate flag means the owner is up for "debate" but fuck off when people wear their country flag with pride.
