few months ago my CEL came on and i had it tested, it came back with the P1071, bank 1 lean, so i reset it, and it came on again.
i then changed oil, thoroughly cleaned the MAF, new spark plugs, new air filter,
then the light came back after about 60 miles,

i reset it again today, took it in to Kwik Kar and since the light was not on, the results came back as

    CATALYST - Not Ready
    EVAP - Not Ready
    O2 Sens - Not Ready
O2 Sens htr - Not Ready

now i know that those were not ready due to me just reseting my computer and i need to drive miles before it fully resets.

he also mentioned that my gas cap had gone out, he tested it in front of me and it did fail, i replaced it there.

what i want to know, is what are the common problems of the P1071 and could it of just been my gas cap throwing the code, it did happen on my dad's 05 TrailBlazer.

    thanks in advance

    Background:

What does your dad's Trailblazer have to do with this?

What year make model (Engine / trans) is your truck?

Any recent repairs / accidents / mods or installs?

    Issue:

You mention the light coming on again two more times. Did you verify the code(s) each aditional time? This is absolutly necessary.

Your gas cap / Evap code has nothign to do with the P1071

What were the codes from Kwik Kar? Not ready does not sound right, what are the actual codes? (I read not ready as the Evap and O2 not powered). This should have nothing to do with the reset.

P1071, bank 1 lean = ECU fuel trim at rich limit and O2 sensor still lean (seeing too much oxygen).

Cauese. (Either not enough fuel or too much air) Fouled fuel injector / Leaking fuel injector / Vacuum leak / cracked exhaust mainifold

    Foreground:

    For educational purposes:

On Evap codes ~ The FSM says :
    CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The vapor pressure sensor, VSV for EVAP, VSV for canister closed valve (CCV) and VSV for pressure switching valve are used to detect abnormalities in the evaporative emission control system. The ECM decides whether there is an abnormality in the evaporative emission control system based on the
    vapor pressure sensor signal.

DTCs P0441 and P0446 are recorded by the ECM when there is a malfunction in either the VSV for EVAP, the VSV for pressure switching valve, or in the vapor pressure sensor itself, or when evaporative emissions leak from the components within the EVAP components.

DTC P0441 Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow
The ECM closes the CCV and opens the VSV for pressure switching valve causing vacuum to increase in
the entire EVAP system. The ECM continues to operate the VSV for EVAP until the vacuum is increased to a specified point at which time the ECM closes the VSV for EVAP. If the vacuum did not increase, or if the vacuum increased beyond the specified limit, the ECM judges the VSV for EVAP and related components to be faulty.

DTC P0446 Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit
When the vapor pressure rises to a specified point, the ECM opens the VSV for CCV. Pressure will increase rapidly because of the air allowed into the system. No increase or an increase below specified rate of pressure increase indicates a restriction on the air inlet side. The ECM closes the VSV for pressure switching valve. This action blocks air entering the fuel tank side of system. The pressure rise on the fuel tank side is no longer as great. If there was no change in pressure, the ECM will conclude the VSV for pressure switching valve did not close.

I'm still green on OBDII Tacoma systems but anxious to learn more.

    no repairs, no accidents, nothing

im sorry for all the confusion, im mainly just wanting to know about the possible resolutions to solve my P1071 code...

im thinking i need to replace the MAF, or O2 sensors?

I don't know what it might be but you may try disconnecting the battery for about 10 or 20 minutes and then hooking it back up again and see if that clears it.

    It will come right back.

    OP, you sure it's not a 0171?

MAF would not be bank one specific.
