Couldn’t be further from the truth. Paper maps still to need to be updated. You just have to buy a new one, and as soon as you buy it, it’s already outdated.

I also haven’t updated my wife’s GPS in 5 years, and I do need to do it.

My GPS, as long it’s plugged into my truck, it’s not going to die.

And the fun part about re-calculating with a paper map/book, you might not know you missed your turn for miles and miles. It also doesn’t tell you construction issues, traffic, closed roads, and more.

    I listed a lot more downsides.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
And what would you rely on if your GPS/Nav bit the dust?

I have a built in GPS in the truck, 2 smart phones (1 if it’s just me), and a stand alone GPS (this one has custom stuff for special things that I do for certain road trips). Personally, I wouldn’t even worry about it.

I drove for years for a company and I got really good with directions. Many times maps were outdated, and I lived. A few times I was 100’s of miles away from home and I got myself home with no maps.
