I park my truck on the street and someone rear ended it going down the hill. Waiting to see if it’s a total loss or they can do anything, but either way it’s going to be a while till I get my Taco (or a new Taco) back
    :( sad day

They were looking down as per their own words. I don’t know what else it could’ve been

Glad you weren’t in, OR were you. Wink wink wink

Don’t think it will total. Buff, PDR, used axle good as new

Edit, make sure they check the right side suspension and rims for curb damages

well that’s some good nows! I hope the collision center agrees…
And for sure, the rims on the right side were all scratched up and they kicked the truck into the curb, so I want to make sure everything is okay. Thank you both for your comments!

That's a bummer man. But if you're hoping they fix it instead of totaling it you may be in luck given the market of used cars right now. My wife's 06 Accord is in the shop after being hit last week - body shop's appraisal was $600 over the maximum value KBB estimates (2 years ago, that is) but given the market they state they wont be totaling and Geico (other parties insurance) gave the repair green light.

In reality, they should total the honda but they wont... Best of luck.

Doesn't look like the actual frame got damage, only the hanger shackle. If the front shackle hanger isn't damage you can just replace the rear with archive hanger shackle. If it doesn't get total I would upgrade the rear hanger shackle. I'm pretty sure you can install the archive hanger shackle from the picture you posted.

And this is why i never park on a street... tons of parallel parking spots on neighborhood style streets around my work and at least once a year cars get sideswiped.

I can tell you outside of that rear spring hanger that frame is fucked, look at body gaps between the bed n cab.

Only getting worse as a lot of the upcoming youth don't really care to even get their license, much less drive, so when they do get behind the wheel it's a rolling dumpster fire. They'd rather take Ubers and pray for the day of fully autonomous vehicles so they can keep their eyes glued to their phone screens during 100% of the car ride.

This 100000% I work at a university and the shift in the last 7 years has been exactly this. We employ student workers and we'd have maybe 1 in 20 that didnt have a license 5-7 years ago... now it almost seems like half of them, its scary watching the ones that do have drivers licenses drive the golf carts around campus too...

They told me that if they can replace the frame the wait was going to be 5 to ten weeks just to get it in. Absolutely bonkers.

Welp, just got of the phone with the collision center. Their estimate is 14,000$ and that’s before they start taking things apart.
    It doesn’t look good…
Insurance will have a decision in the next couple days I guess
