2001 Tacoma Double Cab 4x4 TRD SR5 Limited
    142000 miles
    6cyl auto
    Original timing belt/water pump
    Needs tires
    Photos look good.
    Going to see/drive tomorrow.
    No frame rust.
    Clean interior and exterior.
    Matching camper shell included

    No mods.

    Asking $12500

What's a fair offer assuming no other issues?

It's difficult to get a real fair price from kbb, nada or edmunds.
These darn Tacomas just seem to hold value.

    Thanks

In my opinion, that many miles, and that old. Price is a little over the top. Pics would help us tell you for sure. Is this coming from a dealer?

    Private seller.

    I'm thinking closer to $10k.

Sorry - I can't get the other picts out of my phone.

Price is a little high, make sure you bring the waterpump and timing belt, deduct $700.00 off the purchase price for that, should have been done at 90,000 miles, both could go at any time.

I think that is way too high. I bought mine last March for $9800 and that was $200 over KBB. Mine was a 2001 DC TRD 4x4 same truck really but not the Limited. Mine had 94k with a recent timing belt change. That is the clencher for me, it has that many miles with origional timing belt. Its a ticking time bomb. I would try to talk them way down on the price and if they go for it get that belt and water pump changed right away.

I'll do the timing belt and water pump asap myself. I did it on my 04 PreRunner. Pretty easy, really. Think I had less than $300 in parts.

DC 4x4's are hard to find around here. There are boatloads of PreRunners.
Clean ones are harder to find in general. I'm impressed by the photos...but agree that his asking price is not fair.

Paid 13200 for my 01 limited trd 4x4 dc with 149k miles in canada. That topper alone is worth what, 2000? My timing belt was done though.

Being that old and that many miles, I'd make a serious offer of $9,500. Explain to him the maintenance it needs because it's never been done. Tell him you feel fair market value is $10,500. Then deduct the tires and water pump you'll need to pay to get replaced. Tires alone will set you back quite a bit. Being that it's a double cab, 4x4 is a huge plus for you. Honestly, I think I'd feel comfortable paying $10,500. Also keep in mind how long he's had it for sale so he may not be desperate.

i paid 10500 for my 2002 dc trd with 130000 and no timing belt or water pump done.
my timing belt went to crap a week and a half later and cost me 900 bucks so you should expect that . and deduct to at least 10000

$10K would be a good deal IMHO.

I paid 9500 for my sr5 double cab 4x4 with 179000 on it, I think that price is a bit high but it really all depends on if you want it bad enough... it might be worth it if it is in as good of shape as you are saying. haggle with him a bit and make him come down to close to what the blue book is and deduct how much the repairs and tires will cost.

Price is about $3k TOO HIGH. Too many miles for that price and year on the original water pump and timing belt. I think closer to $9,000-$9,250 would be a fair price for that particular truck.

Makes me wonder what other maintenance was neglected. Be sure to gather as much info as you can. I would be sure to check tranny fluid, ask if the differential fluid has ever been changed. Has he ever touched the plugs and wires? What shape are the brakes in?

Good luck, its a good looking truck, mine looks exactly the same except its an ext cab, I'm located in Louisville.

Well - after a 1.5 hr drive this AM, I am thoroughly disappointed.
After many texts and 2 conversations, and my continued pressing on how picky I am...I wasted my time and effort.
    The pictures didn't show the:
    Hail damage on the hood
Rust on the bottom of the frame
Rust on every metal object under the hood
    Weird wrinkling/buckling on the roof
Rust on the front bumper (nearly bubbled thru)
    Stained carpet

And after pointing it all out - he was still stuck at $10500.

I passed and drove back home.

I looked at another one earlier this week... 2004 TRD SR5 Double Cab 4x4 Also Silver (not Limited) with 149800.
    Original timing belt/water pump.
Also included a matching camper shell
Had several dents in the rear driver side door. (5) (The dealer offered to have a paintless dent repair tech work on them)
Had a pretty good scratch/wear spot on the tailgate top from the camper shell door.
Dealer is stuck at $12950 but will deliver to me (4 hrs away).
    Drives fine.
    No keyless entry.

    Thoughts/suggestions?

Are you stuck on a double cab? I found this one on Autotrader

    here

There are quite a few others available locally, just not in lunar mist.

Yea...stuck on a double cab. Xtra cabs don't have needed room for rear-facing infant seats.
Been there twice with my '99 and '04 PreRunners.

    Definitely stuck on Lunar Mist.
4X4 is currently still a must.

I appreciate you looking tho. ALL help is greatly appreciated.

    Keep it coming !

    thank

Also found this one, its a bit of a haul but looks like a nice truck

    here

With the mileage I'm sure you could talk them down a little too
