I was getting out of work so didn't have time to elaborate. So we have some bar ends, scrap nylon, teflon and some delrin, not sure spelling on last one. But anyways, this piece just had that hole in end so I faced it off, used my imagination I guess from there. I found a cutter little wider than needed then put a flat on it, then laid my piece on there and eyeballed level, cut another flat. Did this 2x then cut that piece off on Marvel bandsaw, then used scroll band saw to cut the pieces on back side. It would have been very thin to try and hold and machine...in limited time anyhow. Used the rule to make a sharpie mark to follow 20210806_144245.jpg

96 was the last of the traditional body ones, my F-250 is a 96.
Great trucks except for prone to "Fords Disease" - rust.

Good choice, the B-I-L bought a not too old F-150 just a few years ago for about $15,000, he is now looking for a box for it. Damn. Ford had that spark plug blowing thing too.
The newer ones just don't do much for me.

    A thing or two...
See that all the time. Just went to look at some used hand planes and a quick search showed that I could buy what they had for half the price on ebay.

If he was using a punch, I bet the head was mushroomed and part of it broke off. Mushroomed bits should be ground off.

I use one at work for measuring penetration into target plates that can't be measured directly. I don't have any kind of certification or formal training.

I've really liked 2 Ford trucks. 1) the 1976 F250 that my Uncle Jim let me drive before I purchased my first car. It was a 360 engine and 4speed manual, I'd love to have that truck today, 2 tone red/white AZ no rust.
    2) the 1999 Ford Ranger 5spd manual with smaller V6, crank windows (most of us here remember those) it was a step side too. What I liked most was the color green.
That F250 was a beast, had the chrome bar in the box, sporting KC Daylighters and a chrome 2 vertical upright push bar up front. After I was done driving it he had a mechanic friend go through the engine and convert to 390 with mild cam and offy intake, and carb.

I once got wrote up for slipping off a wet 3-step rolling ladder and hurting my back.

I go into a stainless rolling mill that requires Kevlar sleeves as PPE...regardless of where you're at on the property. I only go into the storeroom that's 100yds away from the closest production building! :angrygirl:

The 70's Fords were great trucks, big cab, huge engine compartment to work in -- boy if we could only go back...
The FE engine (352/360/390) was a fabulous smooth quiet power plant, couple that with a T18 compound low 4 speed with a 6 to 1 first gear, what a combination.

Yeah, now you got me wondering....I think your correct on that truck you used second gear 1st was a granny??? Lol, that funny name for it. After he had the engine done man that truck pulled good, I remember us out in the desert him hauling through the sand wash with a cab over camper and still feel it put you back in the seat a bit.
He was always a Ford guy while my father his youngest brother (killed 1970 auto accident) was chevy fan. Dad had a 66 Chevelle SS 396 4spd and Uncle a Fairlane (?) With 390 and 4spd. Uncle said they were pretty close running cars, but my dads reaction time better, he drag raced a 55 chevy. I used to have 3-4 trophy he had won. Lost them in move...bummer
