But, are they heavily shorted? That’s all it takes to be a sound investment

Tell all your rich friends to do the same. Then I’ll get @kairo (I think he’s got free time) to post a solid DD on Reddit with the short %, of course, and I’ll be riding high in no time killing the shorts.

I'll get right on that. lol

In other short news. GTii borrow rate is about 11.5%. High but not squeeze high. Once it hits 50% or better we know things have changed. That said, if it doesn't change soon I might not be around to see it. lol

the thing that gets me is that one of the benefits to bitcoin is that there's a limited amount. In that case there's only so much left to be mined. When it hits that point, if these companies taking on debt to do bitcoin mining haven't paid off their debt... and there's no mining left to do............................................
A seriously heavy bet for a company to make

I thought they said that’s like 100 years away? Either way, plenty of other crypto they can transition to

I though the whole bitcoin system was that the miners computers were handling the transactions and all that. I thought they had to be there?
Do you guys think riot is a good long term or you guys just trade it because the volatility?

2140 is the current schedule to mine the last block. The thing you need to look at is how many BTC, or crypto in general, transactions will take place. Miners will switch from a mining reward to a transaction fee reward. By then BTC will also switch from proof of work to proof of stake. ETH 2.0 is already gearing towards proof of stake. They have a difficulty bomb set to go off in DEC. It will double, or more, the computing power needed to mine ETH.

In reality the whole idea of digital DeFi is in it's infancy. As tech changes so will the way coins are mined and transactions are performed. One thing that wont change is the need for an off chain oracle. That's why I have very little in anything but LINK.

Could be good, right now I just jump in and out with calls when the price is right. It’s tough to tell what will come of all this crypto business long term.

It's like the early stages of the internet right now. We know for certain it is not going away. What we don't know is who will be the next Google or Big A. BTC, ETH are the front runners now. Will they be in 20 years? Will they be Google or Ask Jeeves? lol

Yep. Here's another thing that we don't really think of. Here's a list of the most valuable US companies by market cap. 8 of them have been founded within the last 40 years. 5 of them have been founded within the last 23 years. That's crazy.

You guys are Internet noobs… Yahoo used to be one of the biggest names in town for a portal, searches and directories, a guy I worked with lost a lot of money when it tanked back around 2001 or thereabouts when a lot of internet stocks spiked way up and then crashed. Oh and don’t forget AOL lol…
Pretty sure Yahoo was a lot bigger than Google at the time…
