Man that’s two very different set ups. If you need cargo and towing go with tundra. If you like off roading and playing with tools then supercharge. if what you want is speed, you can get other cars with much cheaper hp/$ spent.

you have to run premium, unless you tune it to run lower octane fuel.

power improvement is noticeable. Even better when you remove the bed of the taco, ask me how I know.

Yeah thought so- thank you for the insight. Will probably be making the switch to a tundra in the near future. Love my Tacoma but for long highway trips and hauling cargo I think the tundra would be much more comfortable

no doubt the Tundra by comparison IS a Step Up to Tacoma in many areas

tho there are various nits/picks Tundras possess

Yeah. We’ve taken lots of family trips with small children in the taco over the years. However, it has been retired from road trips. We now have a GX that is roomier and more comfortable to go on those long family road trips. Climbing a mountain the taco wins hands down, but highway/long trips nothing beats the low rpm rumble of a Toyota V8.

I want a supercharger badly. But…..can’t bring myself to spend the 6k on one and it only gives you 60ish horsepower.

I have not. Looks like you are 3rd gen. That S/C is a more modern design, should be more efficient all around.
If you are not in boost, should not be much of a change. Being HPtuner tuned, there is potential for increased mpgs as opposed to the old Dealer provided Toyota tune that is extremely rich.
There is a thread in the performance section that has several posts of peoples Dyno runs.

I'm regeared, on 35s with armor all around. I hit from 8.5 to 9.5 lbs of boost depending on environment. With the flow provided by an opened up intake and exhaust, guessing ~350-375hp to the wheels near sea level.

    Why not both? ;)
I regeared after adding the S/C. Was like adding another S/C.

Man, I am trying to break 300whp with the Magnuson without having to pulley down so I can avoid going into the rabbit hole of supporting mods but it seems very difficult.

I am only making 287whp & 324lb/ft tq with stock 3" pulley, an AFE Intake and the Overland Tailor Tune. Moves my 4,900lb setup well in traffic but I'm hungry for a bit more power.

And to answer dead OP's question, hell yeah it is worth it if you are set on keeping the truck. I can never go back to an N/A 2nd gen. It's only up in power from here!

I'd open up the exhaust, headers and Y-pipe. Also fuel pump. Then get the quick change pulley from URD or the like. A 2.7 will likely get you there.

did you get it Dyno'd? If so, what type of dyno? Hard to tell, but running stock wheels or oversized? The number seems high for the stock pulley. I am running cam gears, larger injectors, 2.8, intake, tuning, and a few other things, and I am sitting around 275-285WHP based on reading via HP tuners. I still need to get it dyno'd. The guys running 300+ have at least a 2.8 pulley, full exhaust, Y, and usually some headers. As @findingthingsout noted, the quick change pulley will be the jam. Drop a 2.8 on and go. 2.7 should be okay, but if you go lower, you will also want to beef up your transmission with a shift kit.

Either way the Supercharger def is nice. My truck got really heavy and it's back to normal form with some pep. If i could loose 1500lbs it would be a rocket.

Yes I dyno'd on a Dynojet. I was surprised by the results but I did 4 runs and it was pretty consistent. I credit the OTT tune for the high numbers as it was almost the same numbers as on the dynochart that OTT had advertised on their website for the 2nd gen Magnuson application (OTT's dyno showed 279whp/317wtq on stock pulley)

    My setup specs:

    Overland Tailor Tune
    AFE Magnum Force Intake
    Dynomax Ultraflow Muffler
    265/70r17 tires

    900ft elevation
