headliner removal

    i am wanting to remove the headliner to install sound deadening material in the roof. has anyone removed their headliner? will it come out through the door? trying to decide if it is worth doing.

    It is an asshole, they install it through the windshield port.

    What you do is drop it on to the seats without headrests and install deadening. Don't try to remove it.

    Personally its a huge pain in the ass and you can crease it easily. I'd only do it if audio quality is critical to you.

    I removed mine through the front passenger side. My seats were out at the time.

    You will find most of the "noise" is from the floor, then rear wall, then doors, then roof. Another significant source is the weather stripping around the doors and widows.

    Your best path to eliminating noise is to isolate the source then address the source. Tires and exhaust are primary sources.

    ^This. If you really wanna install sound deadening it’d be best to just drop the headliner enough to install it. I wouldn’t try to remove it from the cabin.
