Hey everyone, new to the forum and first post. I have an '08 tacoma, double-cab, 4.0L, automatic, 4x4. She's up to 181,xxx miles by now and climbing.

Here recently my wife traded her f150 for an f250 with a friend. Long story short, the f150 was running and the 250 isn't. Sooooo, the task of hauling a kubota rtv1100 home to the farm unfortunately fell on my poor taco with the heavy truck in the shop(head gaskets).

The trailer alone was about 1500lbs. And the kubota is just shy of 2400lbs. So needless to say I squatted the poor girl down, a little too much this time.

Moral of the story is, i now have bent leaf springs, and am looking at redoing the suspension in the rear end. I don't want to just put stock oem leaf springs in. But I don't want to make the truck ride like a jolt wagon either. Would like for it to be able to handle a bit more weight than stock. Although I don't intend on ever hauling anything that heavy with her again, I've learned to never say never.

I suppose the question is, what is the stock pack size on these trucks and how available are heavier duty/larger pack sizes. And how much ride quality am I going to end up sacrificing in the end?

Thanks to everyone and anyone in advance. Trying to get some insight into what I'm up against here

    Also here's a few pics. 20210807_140022.jpg 20210807_140254.jpg 20210807_140514.jpg

And here she is next to the kubota that put the hurtin' on her

Look for a set of take offs from a 3rd gen. Then put some airbags on for when you tow.

@gotoman1969 thanks for the reply, when you say take offs do you mean like take a set off from one in a junk yard? And are airbag kits somewhat universal? Sorry for all the ?'s

Look on the 3rd gen market place guys are always selling the suspension parts they’ve removed. Then you can get a set of Firestone air bags for when you tow.
