The Ventum is a good bow. I bought one new a couple months ago before I won my PSE. If I hadnt won my PSE I'd still have it. Enjoy and I hope you put it to work on that awesome buck!

Waiting on corn. I go out and always feed the cat first, in front of them, roughly ten feet to the left of this window. I do it on purpose, on the edge of the patio, intentionally, about ten yards from them. Doing so always freezes them, not that when they do "bolt" they go more than five yards anyway. Tonight they just laid there and watched. They are mesmerized by that cat getting fed. I've ritualized it up, just to mess with them, making a big fuss over feeding the cat. They glace at me, then the cat, then back to me, then the cat...I pet the cat, "Gooood Kitty-Kitty", purposely gushing over the cat. I glance from them to the cat and back. I, or the cat, have their FULL attention. I can sense their incredulity. The intensity of their stare: They are like, "I can't believe that cat is letting him do that!" Yet, they hold. I do it to see just what behavior you can get out of deer. I go back in the garage to wash the cat dander off my hands and then go out in the shop to get their corn, they know the routine by now. In that short time, usually (not tonight) they have close with the cat to about 5-7 yards, still TOTALLY fixated. Especially the matriarchal doe when she is here (she's not in this picture). She's always out in front. I get the feeling she wants to adopt and mother that cat. When the cat was feral and before he adopted us he would come out of the tree line 20-30 yards behind the deer and follow them into our yard. I guess they have a history or something. The cat gets it and plays along...

I promise I will wash the windows soon.

I know this much: This year, on the deer lease across the street, the successful hunter will not be the hunter setting up his stand downwind and using coon urine cover scent. The successful hunter will have set up UPWIND, with his pockets full of Walmart Great Value Iced Oatmeal Cookies.

Yes, in our south zone, archery started August 1st. Today was just a sit, I didn’t see anything moving. Nothing came through the check station either. I’ll be back at it in the morning, I’ve gotta switch it up.

McCall. Found success there last year despite the internet saying it's over hunted.

Got some decent ones moving around my land in Texas. Hog was just obligatory since you literally can’t walk a hundred yards without spooking one

think I’ll actually buy nonresident tags this year and try to get me a buck during the rut. I’ve resisted paying for NR tags on land I own and grew up on, but think I’ll do it this year.
