To be fair the tip is separate and can be put on the regular exhaust.

If possible, and you have the desire, see if they will give you the old throttle body. While fairly uncommon, there have been contamination issues of the throttle body motor and electronics on several 3UR-FE 5.7L V8 Land Cruisers. The black plastic cover on the side of the throttle body is not terribly well sealed to the aluminum case.

I bought the trd exhaust for my 2017 off-road long bed. Initially I loved it. But now after 2 years, I just don’t like it anymore. I’m debating on whether to sell it and put my original exhaust back. I just don’t like to deal with taking it off and putting the original back on. It was a PITA . Maybe it’s about age in my case. At my age, I like my ride to be quiet lol.

I think it sounds fine. it's got a nice growl to it, without sounding like a fartcan from a civic or WRX. To each their own, though. It's deeper, but not as loud as the aftermarket exhaust I had on my 00.

    Got it back, running great.

Paperwork states: TB was replaced due to "excessive carbon" - is there no way to prevent or clean this? I'm more curious as to what caused it.

"Caused by P211172 throttle actuator stuck open, all wiring check, ok. actuator deemed faulty. Installed TB assembly(22030-0P060) and actuator assembly(22271-0P020)"

It's drive-by-wire, if the throttle body actuator is stuck or failed it would 100% leave you stranded.

The fresh air line for the PVC is in front of the TB, just to the left. Only way to prevent is to capture that oil condensate before it gets into the intake tube.

I’ve seen carbon build up keep a throttle body stuck closed. Happened on my sisters focus. I just cleaned the throttle body really good and it was all set. But that was driven by a cable. So maybe yours sticking caused damage to the motor

    What’s the frame tsb.....just 2016?

How’d the warranty work when you’re stranded....just call the number and they come get you?
    ....assuming you have cell signal.

I paid for the higher warranty too, but I think mine is 7yr/125k.
Just ended up having it pay off with a front end clunking, they change the front struts & bushings and no charge on the rental.

If the issue wasn’t warranty they were going to charge for the rental.

I’m guessing it’s a regional thing and not needed in SoCal.

Like I have been saying there is zero difference between 2016's and new trucks if you have the tranny flash. I had a new loaner (undercarriage rust proofing campaign) 2021 that accelerated just the same as my 2016, I actually preferred mine better. The fox suspension I have is night and day compared to the stock new 2021 I had. The exhaust of new trucks doesn't sound like your 16 because it has broken in. I noticed the new truck sounded like crap also compared to mine.
I've had mine for 5 years now and nothing but a battery.

It was suggested by someone a few pages ago and is worth repeating: There is never going to be a better time to sell a used car/truck or trade one in. So just do it and might as well see if you can transfer the extended warranty to your new Tacoma.

    Stock, 4WD, Access Cab, White,
    IMHO, that is poor advice.

Sure, you can get an inflated price for your existing Tacoma.

The other side of the coin is the next Tacoma also has an inflated price.

then trade / buy for a new / used at an INFLATED price..........................

sooner or later the market will correct itself

those glorified ‘ good ‘ deals are going to leave someone

upside down...................owing more than its worth

there have always been buyers / sellers markets ................

    houses

    inflation

    land

    cars

somebody always profits...................usually NOT getting swept up

The old warrantied throttle body gets tagged and put in a giant pile of parts to get sent back to Toyota .
