They pop up. But yea they’re rarer now, the v6 was not a common option either. But they’re out there. In Australia they were around till 97. So there’s far more out there globally at least.

Gotta make due with what you can on the 3.4. She’s super outdated, so there’s little chance any aftermarket will pop up for it. It’s a good motor, but defiantly forgotten in the performance world due to the VVTI motors proving to be reliable and able to make gobs more power.

Thing is the 5vz is stout. Seems to take a lot of abuse. Would have been a great tuner motor if little things like the ECU wasn’t impossible to tune.

I’m not sure how it would have worked but Gadget made a comment back in the day about working on VVT on the 3.4. Would have been cool if that worked out.

Colt cams still does regrinds for the 3.4 as of a year or so ago. But then you gotta pay extra special attention to making sure you’re valves are set. Might as well go with the $1200 LCE skim kit to avoid spitting spims out.

At that point might as well swap in a LS. Ive been wondering if a 400hp 6.2 will fit. The picture CX has shows a corvette LS sitting pretty nicely in there with room for long tubes.

If I had to guess it might not make more power but it will change the hp & torque curve to come in at a higher rpm. it might make it a great highway motor with great power response for passing cars

Honestly the 2GR (previous gen, no big news on the current gen) has proven to be super stout and make good power. N/A can do 300hp on a car. Over 700hp with boost on a stock engine has been done. I imagine the FKS can do well too.

the best thing that could happen for the VZ is someone get bored and throw free valve on it. This engine would Probably be at 3rd gen hp numbers with more torque easily

The ACIS adds power up top without sacrificing down low by offering both runners. Basically it broadens the power band. And it works wondefully

personally im not a fan of the LS. too easy to make power. i will probably swap a tacoma one day. but i plan on using a 2GR FKS after they've come down in price. coupled with a manual trans it would be a blast

i also just dont like GM.. or ford. or chrysler... too many bad experiances with all of them... and nissan.

I saw a youtube video of a kid doing a freevalve swap on a harbor freight 5 horse and it made a ton more power haha.

ya gm is kind of a shit carmaker nowadays. I think the LS would be too heavy of a motor and would hurt handleing. and moving all that weight up front would just make the rearend spin happy, I doubt you would get the power to the ground without a ton of weight on the ass end

Ive been wondering if you sealed off the water pump with a plate and ran an electric water pump if that would help make more power with the engine not having to push the water around

not really. all the electrical load will just make the alternator harder to turn.

wow thats a shock a fully dressed aluminum ls and 5vz both weigh around 500 pounds... thats wild... I was thinking more of the iron ls blocks that come in the trucks but I looked that up and its around 600 pounds so not too bad..

Why even bother making a 12 cylinder if you're limited to under 300hp lol.
