PT Cruiser was a special kind of ugly only to be outdone by the Chevrolet HHR. :puke:

Yep, Fiat 500 platform. However, both the Compass and KL Cherokee are Fiat platform models, yet Jeep doesn't go out of its way to discourage off-roading them. The Renegade is a special bastard child.

    I think they're designed for

    Young Rachel's first car

    or

    Old Carol's last car

My mom has one of these and all I can do is shake my head. They're so cheap and to her it's four tires and a seat. She has poor taste in cars.

On the other hand, the Renegade is probably the most offroadworthy model in its subcompact crossover class. Probably handles the dirt better than the likes of the Honda HRV or Toyota C-HR...

I wouldn't say it's fair to compare a Renegade to anything CVT even if they're all crossovers. If the HRV or C-HR weren't CVT they'd probably go just as far with a solid set of tires on 'em whether they're FWD or AWD and have an owner with the desire to go.

That's no joke, I just looked up the cost of that ladder on the side, $300 bucks!! I mean if that's your thing, go hard. Not for me tho, I can't even handle the ladders on larger suvs... I feel like they are useless. Especially when you have an RTT... it comes with a built in ladder.... why would you add an additional one? But again, I have spent money on stuff for vehicles over the years that makes no sense to me either...
I have read a couple write ups over the years of guys who built their vehicles up with stuff and after a few years went back and talked about what they did initially that they changed because it just didnt make sense for their use of the vehicle.

The C-HR isn't even available in AWD lol. End of the day, Honda and Toyota paid even less attention to off-roading than Jeep did.

Exactly, which I thought was a huge mistake considering their direct competitor the HRV is available in AWD. You have to consider that Jeep is rooted in offroading, and being off the beaten path so of course they would pay attention to it otherwise they lose the meaning behind their brand. Toyota doesn't make just offroading vehicles. They make reliable, often times family friendly vehicles and have a rugged offerings for those who do want to get off the beaten path.

I like the look of the Renegade, especially since we can't get a Suzuki Jimny, but it's so overpriced.

Resale is junk too. On the 2017 I bought new in Feb 2018, had a MSRP of 33k, bought for 24.5k sold it to a dealership in Feb 2021 for 14k w/45k miles on it.

And have to throw up a pic of mine, not as bro as the original picture, but it's a better color.

Top notch effort. At one point in my life I coveted a Suzuki Samurai and a Ford Ranger Styleside. I've moved on now.

The Renegade shares some lines from the 3rd gen Tacoma, and the new Tundra. The 4th gen Tacoma will probably look similar to a Renegade. I think if the Renegade was marketed as more of a performance hatchback instead of a Jeep. The Renegade could be a cool car. If Honda, Toyota, or Subaru built something like that people would be driving them everywhere.
