Finally modded my rci skids to fit my trail gear crossmember after over a year of sitting in the corner of the garage. I just needed to cut the lip off the front end of the skid, started perfect, finished fucked haha. It don’t look pretty, but she’ll do haha.

 the possibilities are endless . . .

Just an accessory switch to fake the parking brake ON input for the new head [per my earlier post]. I have an extra switch cover that says Parking Brake but I might just leave it as is . . .

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
    Replaced:
    Front brake piston boots
    SPC upper ball joint boots

    Cleaned:
Cleaned manual hub bodies, and lubed with PTFE lube instead of grease

    Fixed:
Both of the hub end dust covers on my CVs were a bit out of shape. Fixed them and greased where they come close to the dust covers on the back of the hubs.

Chasing a wheel speed squeek that is driving me nuts.
Thought it was brake pads... replaced, nope.
Thought it was a wheel bearing... replaced, nope.
Hopefully something I did today fixes it, or I'm stumped.

Replaced my cracked radiator with a dealer denso. Also installed a towing Aisin fan clutch, new thermostat with jingle valve set to 6 o’ clock, new Toyota red coolant, took about 3 hours. Running just below the half way mark on the dash gauge now.

I have a spare Orange fan clutch, 124,000 miles on it, FREE, you pay shipping!!

    Ok... now I'm fucking pissed.

No change in the squeeking :frusty:

But I actually tested the front locker and it works... so there's that.

Only downside of having a first gen is not much aftermarket. So little gems like this I try to support.

Went to Job Lot and got a thin chair cushion. Put it under my seat cover and no more butt pain when driving! Probably time for a new seat cushion.

JUST WHAT I WAS looking for

I'll take the fan clutch as I just installed a new Aisin some months ago, but it's not meant for 'towing'

Since the squeek started I have:
Completely rebuilt an entire new set of spindles, and eliminated the brake dust shields.
New bearings, new inner and outer hub dust shields. Swapped hubs to a different set of hubs.
Completely overhauled the manual hub dail bodies.
    Fixed the CV dust shields.
    Replaced the brake pads.

And even though the the diff doesn't turn, (unless I have the manual hubs locked) I have replaced the front diff as well (regear and locker)

Squeek sounds like the rotor is rubbing the brake dust shield... to describe the sound... but, again, these spindles don't have dust shields.

Shot in the dark, but do you have shims behind the brake pads? Only other thing I could think of making a squeek sound other than worn pads or draggin on the dust shield

The brake pads have shims attached on the back.

Also, these are new pads, that I recently replaced. The squeek did not change between the old pads and the new ones.

So, now I'm chasing the squeek to the back. Thinking maybe one of the rear dust shields is bent, or I have worn shoes...

    Nope

Shoes have better than 50% life left in them (with these drums of ours, that's like 100,000 miles lol) and I have better than 1/8th of an inch clearance from shield to drum all the way around (probably closer to 3/16)

Anyone who's tubbed for 35s crossed the LCA cams and had a 1" body lift ?

only bet to help with tubbing would be the Solo lower control arms. They push the wheel far enough forward but you'd still still for sure have to tub.

LT guys even still have to tub and most LCAs on those push the wheel forward a bit.

    Are your LCA maxed?

With a 10.5 wide 35 and the right backspacing you still don't think the solo LCA will push it forward enough?

I mean if 33s fit. The radius of a 35 is an inch larger. So I would think the inch the solo arms provide would suffice.
