Driving with manual transmission questions

I haven’t driven a 3rd Gen MT but this muting thing kind of makes me want to try one out. I may have to make a trip to the dealership to give it a shot lol

 

47, only owned 2 ATs me entire driving life. Everything else has been MT.

You know - I just thought that maybe the 'wobble' I mentioned earlier is exactly what the accumulator takes care of? I am not well versed in car mechanics, just have been driving manuals all my life, but that's exactly what it feels like: You shift up to early - it used to wobble and stall. Now it just feels like your engine is a wuss. Could that be it with the accumulator?
(Because, on the flip side, I have never felt the engine - on the Taco - just throw the truck forward like I know it should when I am at that sweet spot of rev and clutch. )

 

Most people sit to far back and to low. When the clutch is fully depressed their leg is almost completely extended ( locked knee ). In that position you leg is out of its strength zone and its working harder than needed.

The brake part was referring to if you get rearended .

 

Are you talking about the motor kind of wobbling the revs if you shift too early/at too low of a rev? I think every MT I’ve driven does that to some degree

Yes, exactly. My Tacoma is the only car I have not experienced that in - thus I wondered if the accumulator had something to do with it. I came to it from a '97 Subaru Outback as my DD and that one sure let you know if it wasn't happy with the rev/gear combo. Also drove a 2001 Passat 4 cyl Turbo. That one almost never wobbled but then it had the Turbo so much more torque.

 

I don't use my knees at all when I clutch / brake / accelerate. I use my calves. My heel rest on the floor. Is that what you are referring to? I can't imagine having my heels off - I'd be completely out of control.

I have noticed that more often than not it's a clown or a teenager, regardless make or style.
Or else it's PD or FD and they were not urgent and too polite to get the sirens going. Which made me the clown. Not projecting on you.

OP is 23... but I imagine most must be middle-aged. I don't know any one my age who even knows how to drive stick let alone own one lol
