Comfort. A v12 will be stupid smooth with torque. It’s out of a luxury car. That’s what they do

I am. Sucks to install and you have to be careful but its good insurance. It definitely made the shifts quicker. I went with the “truck” setting.

With the 2.1 I had to add 10% more fuel over what the stock maps had. That’s almost maxing out a 665cc injector.

With your 2” you are leaning way out.

thats possible. when I run high octane it does not ping though. I drive mostly around 3-5000 ft elevation the air is thinner up here. can you send a tune file. I have the r4 software I just don't know how to do the tuning

for follow up, I finally started up the new engine this weekend. I wanna say the tank is sitting around 6-8 gallons of fuel and I added two bottles of Lucas octane booster. 1 bottle “treats” 25 gallons of fuel so I figured 50 gallons worth of treatment would be enough to at least make me feel more comfortable about the first start.

On the initial fire up, I had a fuel leak coming from the fuel rail banjo bolt. I fixed that by just switching out the banjo bolt gaskets. After that, it idled sooooo smooth!! No check engine light, no overheating, no leaks anywhere. Super happy with the result. This thing hasn’t been started since last Halloween!

I now have a high pitch squeal coming from the throttle body. I’m going to check for vacuum leaks tomorrow and possibly clean the throttle body to see if that fixes the issue.

the next immediate issue I need to tackle is to have the exhaust all mated up, then wire up all the accessories like the AFR sensor, boost gauge, and 7th injector.

Running a 2” pulley on that little M62 throws it off the charts (literally) on efficiency. At that point the little M62 is creating tons of heat.

Also, running lean on pump gas creates high cylinder temperatures. That, along with the high rotor speeds on a Eaton is probably causing your pinging. The purpose of aiming for a 11-11.8 AFR is to cool the mixture enough to prevent ping.

The higher the octane the leaner you can actually run. That is because it burns more slowly which is cooler. That is probably why you don’t ping when adding booster. When tuning for power you can actually go much leaner than with pump gas.

But you really need that AFR sensor to know what’s going on.

I am sure most of you came about owning a supercharger a little differently than me. An acquaintance's father had a '98 TRD with a supercharger and lost control and rolled it. Don't know for sure but I think it came to rest on the roof and drivers fender. He was severely injured but last I heard he was recovering. I bought the truck and an in the process of removing the supercharger and I am planning on installing it in my 2001.
    Untitled-1.jpg
I just removed the supercharger and as I thought it had motor oil in it. probably more than what came out the vacuum tube on the back probably about 4-8 ounces not having anything to measure it. the rest of it probably went back down the intake when they rolled it back over. Now here's my question, what do you think I should do about it? I was planning on changing the oil in the snout and it's would probably be a good idea to open it up and rebuild it. What should I do to the main body where the rotors are?

Looks like it rolled pretty bad. I hope he has a speedy recovery.

as for the SC, If it were mine, I would rebuild it or have it rebuilt. But it you’re trying to keep costs down and add cheap boost, you could just spin the pulley by hand to see if there’s any interference, or grinding bearings, or anything like that. It should spin freely and smoothly.

also, just as a side note, don’t forget to grab that oil dipstick relocation bracket off of the alternator mount.

    BeLance89,
Leaning towards rebuilding it. I looked at the rebuild thread and it seems pretty straight forward.
I have the truck so I will be able to scavenge everything I need off of it, I want to part out some of it before shipping it off to the auto salvage.
I did order the dynamic pulley from URD, it had the static pulley.
    Thanks for the input.

Was the rebuild thread for the 1st gen SC or the 2nd gen SC? I've seen the rebuild thread for the 2nd gen SC (not second gen Taco). I believe you can modify the static pulley bracket so that it eliminates the static pulley but you still get the nose cone support; just requires a little bit of cutting.

Edit: Is your truck a 5spd? I see the donor truck has the throttle bracket for an auto trans.

Automatic. The thread was for 2nd gen SC. I saw the post about the bracket mod.

The 2nd Gen SC is built differently than the 1st Gen. The rebuild on it, as far as I know, is not as simplistic as the 2nd Gen. I was asking if you were a manual because I have an extra bracket for a manual and I was going to offer it up to you. What’s the bracket mod you’re referring to?

I have two extra used dynamic tensioners but not the bracket that it mounts to. I also have 2 throttle body brackets for a manual trans and one for an 03-04 auto that doesn't have a transmission kickdown cable.

also, a new tensioner is pretty cheap. i wanna say i got mine off of Amazon for around $35. Just have to swap out the pulley and i could send one of those to you.
