i think this is the first time i was able to install something i received on the same weekend.

fyi bench pressing these things to get them in place was such a pain in the ass:curls: definitely wish i had a second pair of hands, i think i still gotta double check the bolts cuz i may not have gotten them all the way down

Discount Tire gives veterans 10% off. You can stack this with the flash sale. Got a smoking deal on Toyo AT 3’s couple weeks ago

Keep in mind, I don't think Costco will install tires that are more than 3% of the factory recommended tire size. If you buy tires from them, you would have to mount them somewhere else.

They key to this is to carry out the tires, rather than have them install them on the truck. So they just install the tires onto the wheels, and you would then install the wheels on the truck. Only issue is you'd need an extra set of wheels/tires, or 3 other buddies to lend you their spares to drive on over there with, while your primary wheels are in the back

I did this with Walmart, since they had the best price on the tires I wanted. They didn't even ask what it was going on. Switched to my a secondary set of wheels and tires that I have, and got the big tires mounted on the primary set of wheels. Then threw them in the back when I was done and bolted them on at my place. Surprisingly enough, the walmart balance was spot on. Can't beat $50 for 35s mounted and balanced out the door

If I lived closer I'd let anyone borrow the second set to do this

I feel like I might be safe, primarily because the tires I ended up ordering are the same brand and size that are already on the truck. I can understand not scaling up, but to not do a 1 for 1 swap with what's already on there seems silly. But we'll see how they do.

Thank you, everyone, for the fantastic advice and help. I ended up going with Costco mainly for the urgency (just got back from Martha's Vineyard and the 800 miles in a weekend really took it's toll). For now, I want to see how much bigger I could possibly go, and get a set of rims and mud terrains for adventuring. Ideally I'd keep them in the garage and swap 'em out when I go for a trip, using KO2s for the lighter, commuter stuff. That said, I've never measured for tire space before so anyone with knowledge or expertise that wants to help gets beer and pizza lol

I don't post in here too much but figured I'd say hello and share some photos from the weekend. I went with a buddy (who has a nice camera) to Green Ridge State Forest and had a really great day. My truck is literally just a stock '14 SR5 4x4 with a set of 3rd gen TRD OR wheels/tires. It took basically anything I could throw at it up until the point I high centered on a real odd lip at the end of a steep incline coming onto the road. Anyway, I'd definitely go back next free Saturday I have!

    Nice muddy puddle:

Not sure the angle we were at here but it was legitimately difficult to walk up. 4lo handled it with no drama at all.

I definitely like the sound of that. I probably wouldn't be able to go every weekend (baby on the way) but I'd love to go back soon!

Do you recognize that hill? If so, what do you think it takes to get over that crest? I feel if it wasn't an up-and-over kind of deal, I'd have cleared no problem but it's pretty aggressive.

Here's the view from the bottom:

From your previous pictures, it looks like you took it head-on. Doing so maximizes the hill's height under your vehicle. If you go at it diagonally, you reduce the length of the hypotenuse between your front and rear wheels. Reducing that reduces the peak, also known as the ramp-over angle, makes it more easy to navigate. Did you give that a try?

I took it as diagonally as possible honestly. I folded in my mirror via a branch on the right and swung over to the drivers' side as much as possible. I'm also not an overly talented off-roader though so I wouldn't be surprised if someone with a tad more finesse than me was able to get over.

I've never been to that area before, but I'd be more than happy to go at it with you some time. I wouldn't call myself experienced, but I spent a day at AOAA and did pretty alright

In terms of technique...I don't know. But with slightly more lift (either from suspension or bigger tires), you'd probably clear it. Or, just get some good belly skids and sliders and just send it!

Yep, I think the break over angle probably got you. Bigger tires or lift solve that. In some occasions, so does speed lol

I would suggest that anyone going to Rausch should at least have sliders and a lift. Especially on blue trails. Otherwise, it could end up a less than fun day.
