Good thinking to bring that with you.

Keep us posted on what you find. I'd bet the alignment is off somewhere if it ate a new belt in 200 miles

Found the rest of the belt around the tensioner pulley. But everything still spins freely. Any indication of something off?

New belt on, skid about to go on. Then will monitor next gas stop

Id wager a bad belt. Youre pulleys arent magically going to change distance. Or your tensioner is failing.

Lmk if youre still coming through kc

I like this way of thinking. Maybe Dayco > Gates?

I will be on the way back. So, probably after the 16th.

Nah. Gates is good. Just manufacture issue im sure. If you have problems again then id lean tensioner. Also i wouldnt have been afraid to run 1 less rib. Not the end of the world if you were in a pinch.

I may have run it if i was mid trail, but im in a city, so a quick stop for a $30 belt was probably a good idea. Next time I know though

~125 miles since belt change, and no issues. Belt looks good so far

OMG! I'm having dejavu! I replaced my belt 2 months before taking a trip to North Carolina a couple years ago. It shredded on the trip home. Had to replace it in an Oreilly Auto Parts parking lot with the skids on. It had wrapped around the crank pulley and screwed the seal. I was stipping every 2 hours to add oil until I got it home.
My guess is it was off a groove on one of the pulleys when you replaced it. Make double sure the new one is on ALL grooves. Good luck!

Today, trying to drive from Rockford IL to Oacoma SD. Will not be staying in red roof in.

And from there, Bozeman is an additional 9.5 hours away.
