Sorry if y'all hate these sorts of posts but I'm planning to buy a 2015 4wd i4 AT tomorrow and am having some anxiety over the purchase. I've been searching for a gen 1/early gen 2 for the past few months and have passed on many due to being overpriced, too high mileage, or salvaged. I recently stumbled upon this 2015 4wd i4 AT (75k miles) for 21k asking price. After a brief conversation with the seller (I never said I'd explicitly buy the truck) he removed the listing so I could have the first viewing when he returns from a vacation. I feel like it's a very good deal considering similar listings in my area but am worried that it will depreciate significantly in the next few years as the new car market stabilizes. Am I getting a decent deal assuming everything is in proper working condition? Seller is an older guy who mainly used it for commuting in the bay area but retired to my neck of the woods near in the Sierra Nevadas. Oil allegedly changed every 3k and plan to ask about diff fluids/transfer case tomorrow at the viewing.

    Still thinking about it.
The price seems fair for the current market but I understand your hesitance. In “normal” times that price might be a bit high. At least it doesn’t seem like the guy is trying to price gouge… lots of that going on where I live.

They are offering 2.5% financing on a new tacoma for 72 months.
Payment should be $500-$600 a month.
Divide that by 20 years ownership and do the math.
    Stupid cheap.

I knew someone would say that lol. It suits my needs fairly well. I don't tow or haul that much, using it for camping, hauling bikes and towing my 600lb boat/trailer a few miles down some flat road. Also i'm coming from an 07 Prius so it's not like I'm used to the power of a v6

That's alot of money to spend on a vehicle so make sure you have no regrets. Go test drive one the the 4.0 before you decide to go with this one. Expect it to drive worse if you ever decide down the road to run larger tires or add armor.

Not a fan of a Access cab, 4 banger if you plan to put a family in it. No one will want to ride back there! I know!

I would only be in the used car market for need and not want. If you can maintain your current situation for another year or two.

Test drive it first. Then decide if it'll fit your wants/needs. No one on here can truly tell you what you will like/need. After that decide on the price.

Being one who, by your reckoning, is stupid, I have a straight 4 access cab and have no desire anything else. I did look for a v4 but I guess they were sold out at the time.

    Second.

Don't buy a car, house or lumber right now if there is any way to avoid it.

Although I have a 3G V6DC, I am very fond of the I4 AC's. I learned to drive a stick on a 97 SR5 AC I4 manual. I would only get one in manual, though. There is something mucho honest about the I4 AC's. They aren't a truck that is also trying to be a high speed family hauler.

Curious to where you are from? Within a 500mile radius of me in California the next cheapest 4banger access cab is like 24k and 2wd

... al inline fours .... I told myself they serve the purchase.

    Purchased a 2014 Prerunner V6 ... hot damn.

In January I'm thinking ... great trade in time ... used trucks are at a premium. I took a 2021 inline 4 home ... surface streets ... highway ... onramps ... NO WAY! All this in flat Virginia Beach. It downshifted on an overpass on I-264.

Right back to Checkered Flag ... who offered me quite a bit for a 7 year old truck ... thanks but no thanks.

I was born and raised and live in Los Angeles. I own an access cab v6 auto 4x4 1st gen, a reg cab 4banger auto 4x4 1st gen, I wouldnt buy a access cab 4banger access cab, why? the v6 has more power and can handle load better, 20k+ for a 4banger go ahead and buy it if it makes you happy

Can't speak for anyone else but I love my 2.7L access cab Prerunner MT. I don't tow much, don't speed and love that no one asks me to drive because of the seating. Also love the 6' bed. 2010 daily driver with 155k and never a maintenance issue. Still on the same brakes, clutch and belt. I'm not a fan of the AT and the price does seem a little high but if it was well cared for then it could last you a long time!
