My other watches. The Tudor was my first big boy watch purchase about 5 years ago, and the Omega was my grandfathers hand me down.

So I might be getting rid of my apple watch series 6 now, I no longer trust it. It decided to text my general manager part of a conversation I was having with my dad, that I never asked it to send. Luckily it was just me and my dad bullshitting about cars instead of what I called the guy that almost hit my truck a few minutes prior.

So I pulled the trigger on a Padi Turtle. Added a Uncle Seiko Waffle . Love it. Ordered watch from Amazon. Price dropped to 312. As an added bonus my watch came as a JDM . Made in Japan on Dial and Caseback. Really happy. And everything lines up. PXL_20210806_221246696.MP.jpg

Yes!!!!! My buddy (an avid watch collector) has that watch as well. Sooooo cool. Definitely one of the reasons I went with mine when choosing my next watch. Now I've got him eyeing the BB58 blue. We'll see. Thanks for sharing!

What are yalls opinion on Tissots? Specifically looking at a Tissot Sailing Touch that jomashop has on sale. Needing an easy to read on the fly watch with a stopwatch function.

IMO - like many under Swatch group, they’re decent for the price, but nothing spectacular. They don’t seem to hold value as well as others.

Yeah im not too worried about that. It'll be my watch I wear when im traveling and such so I wont have alot invested in it if it gets banged up. MSRP is claimed to be $1095 but they have it on sale for $269. It's a quartz movement but it has alot of useful features and a sapphire crystal so it should be tough enough. I swear my Citizen Primo chronograph daily but the face on it is a little too busy to be read quickly and im going to a competition for work in September where ill need to read it at a glance.

Looks like a bunch of places have it for sale around that price. Including Amazon if that's something you're interested in for quick shipping etc... I'd own a Tissot no problem. You might want to look at a G-Shock as well. Every watch enthusiast I know owns one for the type of thing you're talking about. Either way for $300 it'll be great. Have fun!!

I second this. Tissot is positioned more as a lower-level luxury brand. If you’re shooting for something quartz and rugged the g-shocks are rock solid. As an alternative, my Suunto Core has lasted extremely well though all kinds of abuse over the years, as well as my Garmin fenix (Quatix is their sailing-specific variant).

I keep my dress watches for dress and outdoor watches for outdoors stuff (where I won’t care if/when they get beat up). I try not to pay too much for something that’s meant to get abused. Just my 2c.

I rotate between a few citizens and my 1st gen tag aquaracer for daily/dress wear. The lower priced Gshocks dont really do anything for me. I have a tough solar that works well that i could wear but im just kind of bored with it.

Does a watch exist that's "budget" but will also increase in value? Would a "low end" $5k Rolex increase in value?

I feel like Rolex is aspirational but they also mostly all look the same to me. Maybe I'm just to poor/cheap. Lol. I'm big into value for money, like a nice Seiko or even a cheap Casio.

Jomashop sales are just the regular street price 99% of the time.

Some other options with similar features.

    Casio Protrek
    Seiko Prospex
Tissot Sea Touch and racing touch have bracelet options if you prefer that.

I excluded citizen because the majority of their watch faces make my eyes hurt o_O

Rolex prices are bonkers right now. Many SS variants sell for thousands more than MSRP (you can’t find a GMT or Daytona in stores). I’ve purchased several watches in the past that have increased in value - but I always lowball people on Offerup/Craigslist to get a good deal. Had success with omega/rolex/tudor… brands that are most popular.
