I'd be a good parent. I would be a parent first. I'm not their friend.

I'd be the cool parent taking my kids to metal shows, but first I'd be the parent making sure they did their chores, homework, etc.

I'm old fashioned about respect, earning things, etc.

Problem is, I'd be a dead parent. My kids would murder me in my sleep.

My honest fear about kids is I won't put in my fair share of the work, my husband would resent me, and we'd end up divorced. Then I'll resent my kids for ruining my marriage. I care way more about my marriage than having kids.

I'm youngish so plenty of time for my priorities in life to change, but if they don't that's OK.

I get my kid fix with the nieces and nephews. Maybe when they all grow up, leave, and don't have kids of their own I can spoil, I'll feel different.

You know whats really important in life is having people who love and support you and add value to your life and make you a better person. Whether that be friends, spouses, kids, or all of the above.

Life will throw you down and kick you in the balls every now and then, and its those people who keep us moving.

I ended up being dismissed from my new job (after being promoted 4 days prior) because the company “was going another way”.

What you need in life is great people, a gym, and a good pair of running shoes. :)

My training partner has a 4-5 year old and he's struggling time to time. Sumbitch is 280 with abs, true bodybuilder. For him he had to set a smaller goal. Like last week was just 6 meals/day and 6 workouts/week. Build from there.

I guess the lesson is when things go wild, set smaller more attainable goals.

Overhead press is always so humbling. 225 sucked. Axle feels better than barbell too.

Never give up was a general statement stud! I am blessed to have all what you mentioned but can't and won't go without getting a workout 3-5 times a week. I'd do bodyweight pushups and pullups if that was all I had time for..
Kids aren't for everyone but nothing like it!!
    Be well:)

2 years ago I couldn’t do 405 on DL for one lift without dying. Now. I can rep 405. But still can’t hit 500. At this rate, I’ll never hit competition numbers until I’m in the masters class

Anyone got a solid recommendation on a remedy for tennis elbow... and no, it's not from playing tennis.
It's been months... not getting any better with rest, or pain relievers, tried acupuncture, Tumeric, warm/cold compress, massage....etc....

Its right above that bony part of the right elbow, that little soft spot... aches every morning.

Cant do more than a few dumbbell curls before it starts to flare up... Kettlebell swings... .fagedaboutit ...

I dont know what to do and it's impairing my normal gym routine.

Are you sure its a tendon issue and not a nerve issue? Any radiating pain?

No, I am not sure to be honest. That's just what WebMD and my buddy are telling me....

The pain runs all the way down my forearm and into my middle and ring finger in the right hand, right into the joints.... I wake up and the knuckles are sore, the elbow is sore... It literally hurts to grip a cup of coffee some days.

Holy crap!!! This is urgent, you need to get that fixed ASAP!

JK, not trying to gloss over the issue. How long has it been going on? I have no recommendations on fixes, but do know that I get an occasional issue in one of my shoulders that affects certain lifts and can last a month or two before it goes away. I end up keeping the lifts going, just to keep the range of motion going but lighten the weight.

    To me that says nerve.

The ulnar nerve runs down the tricep, over the elbow, and innervates the pinky and finger next to it. Middle finger through our thumb is controlled via the radial nerve which runs along the inside of the elbow.

I thought I had tendonitis in my elbow for awhile, until one day during a bench press my middle fingers through my pinky and forearm went completely numb and I dropped 225lbs.

Unless you do something else for your sport or job that includes hitting something away from your body, it's super uncommon for lifting to cause tennis or golfers elbow (so I have been told).

I know in some people the ulnar nerve runs more superficially than others and thus the movement in your arms can cause irritation more easily than for others (I personally struggle with any heavy arm movements because of this). Some people end up with ulnar nerve entrapment which causes horrible pain.

I have cubital tunnel in my elbows/forearms. I rarely have symptoms anymore I just had to change my approach to bicep and tricep work as well as adding pads to my keyboard and mouse for work. You can look that up and see if that fits your symptoms at all. But I would probably reach out to a PT for help on that. Obviously a pro is going to be able to tell you exactly what it is and what to do to help.

Huge loss...I have been a fan of him for years when he was the nicest guy on the boards and working his butt off for a pro card. Man is a legend and more people have benefitted from his generosity that might realize it.

Air cast, wrap so the bubble is on the tendon.

    Perhaps cortisone shots.

Otherwise it's just resting it, much as I hate to say it. Had this several times in my life and it does suck an egg

I’ve had self-diagnosed tendonitis in my elbow specifically in the back where the triceps tendon goes into the elbow. I say self-diagnosed because I never got it checked but after doing extensive research on Google that was my conclusion.

    What made it hurt?
Loading the tendon specifically when the tendon was cold like in the morning after getting up. For example shaking a protein shake in the morning. At the gym, overhead work killed it the most: overhead triceps extensions and shoulder press. Sometimes bench press as well.

What I did to fix it?
Short term: At the gym I started using a neutral grip on exercises vs a pronated grip (overhand). Make sure to really warm up first and get good blood flow before lifting. After doing this I realized I could still lift but just had to modify things. Still though I was where I wanted to be

Long term: The number one thing that helped me the most was using resistance bands (the tube kind with the handles) and using a light resistance and a lot of reps. Bands are generally easier on your joints so this is a plus especially if you have tendonitis. If you don’t have bands weights will work but you got to go light and a bunch of reps (3 sets for 20 reps). Look up exercises for tennis elbow and go from there. You’ll probably get exercises like wrist curls and extensions. You’ll want to do these for at least 3 times a week. If it hurts a lot during the exercises you probably using too much weight or you didn’t warm up enough. A little pain is fine but listen to your body.

If you start feeling better after doing this a couple times you’re on the right track and keep going from there. The most important part will be the eccentric portion of the lift (the lowering of weight/resistance). Really take it slow during this part of the lift.

    What doesn’t work:
Rest, endless amounts of icing, compression and anti-inflammatories. If you want to ice and compress there isn’t anything wrong with it, it just might not help in the healing process.

I’ll leave you with this too…
