Decided to go with 1 year old T4R SR5 17" wheels. So much better than the steelies and perfect for a budget build. Had it 2 weeks and still no time to detail it. Dying to see this truck cleaned up soon. Always loved this color.

Any of y'all looking at wheels and tires, check out Trail Built. I've been pleased with their customer service on other orders and saw that they are doing free mounting, balancing, and shipping.

    Lookin good!

I have found that the hybrid spray ceramic stuff from Meguiars turns the black plastic blacker than the Mother's Back-to-Black restorer. It isn't a permanent fix, but will make it temporarily look like new! I no experience with a true ceramic coat though...that might be even better!

    Ahhh thats too smart

It was a total spur of the moment comment

I havnt even made a forsale post for it yet, its on the truck and ive nowhere to store it so ive been dreading it. I will do it either tonight or monday (going wheeling for the next 4 days)

Edit: the comment was spur of the moment, ive been wanting to sell the shell for a few years now

Campers are one of those thing you can kinda get a pass on the must be removed from truck rule since the only way to transport it is on the truck

I have had at least 15 trucks in my 60+ years. I think I had a shell on 3. One was a factory shell on a 1970 El Camino SS. One was a tall shell on a Ford F250 that saved my cab when a tree fell during a storm. The last one was removed after 6 months and was moved around my yard for months until someone finally took it for free. Many years ago I started putting tool boxes on my trucks ending the whole shell thing. Got to have somewhere to store tools, jumper cables, tow straps, etc. I think trucks look great with camper shells. Just seemed like every time I had one I had to remove it to move one of my kids or haul something big. I am writing this as a reminder to self to quit thinking about buying another camper shell.

That El Camino shell is worth some bucks these days.

I always thought shells ruined trucks. "just buy a tahoe" my young ignorant self thought.
I one day had a run in with a bear at camp.
I was piss drunk, zipped up in my bivy, under an easy up in the rain and all i had in there with me was my M3 fighting knife.
I think in my drunked/dehydrated efforts to remain perfectly still, it was enough to convince it that i was some sorta large living thing it wanted nothing to do with... buddys dog in a nearby tent started growlin at this point, which was nice.

Anyways, a few weeks later i went to look at my truck at a dealership thinking, "yeah, i could give this camper shell thing a whirl" lol

obviously a shell isnt going to stop any determined bear, a hell bent squirrel could breach if it wanted too lol
But it has been nice, being out of the elements (of which i like to camp in alot). Sadly, im just too tall for me and my gf to fit in there comfortably without the tailgate down and i think the extra room offered by a RTT may make both of our lives better when camping.

pictures because its a picture thread!
