Factory TRD lift shocks question

I was thinking of doing the factory TRD lift myself. I don't need the TRD Pro Grill since I already have a factory one.

I was looking at just getting the shocks and a rear spacer kit and possibly a differential drop kit.

Am I missing anything? I have heard these are the same as Bilstien 5100's, but they seem to cost less and are available.

Doing the lift mostly for looks.

Can they be paired with diff coils?

 

I believe only stock coils.

 

My truck is a 2019 TRD Sport DCSB. The lift says its for 2020 and newer only. Not sure why.

Shocks don't lift, springs do. The only thing 5100s have are multiple spring perch positions that add preload to a spring to create lift.

There has to be more to the Toyota OE lift package than just shocks.

 

The kit really only comes with shocks. the spring position creates the lift. Where you put the snap ring on the front shock creates it.

I was just unaware that the OE lift used this method.

If that's the case, there is no reason to spend the bucks for OE bits, assuming they cost more than aftermarket.

 

They are actually cheaper than the bilstein 5100's

 

My main question is are these basically rebranded 5100s?

 

kit is 1295 at my dealer. If you get it installed at purchase you get the full warranty as if it came from the factory, if you get it installed later you get a 1 yr warranty. Problem is you can not install it yourself if you do and have no record of dealer install all suspension warranty is voided. That being said they want 1200 for install

 

I wish I saw this before I ordered 5100s for the exact same price. Looks like only 3 height settings on these instead of 4-5 on the 5100 fronts. I like these better and I bet they pair great with the TRD OffRoad progressive coils

my truck will arrive between Sept2 and 8th and the lift will be installed right then already have new wheels and tires. Rock rails, and a bed cover sitting in my garage

Thats a legal thing they have to put in there most dealers just ask if you want to do it.

 

What are trd offroad progressive coils? AFAIK, all trims come with the same 700 lb/in coil springs.
