I will never understand why people think it is okay to eat during zoom meetings (meetings in general). This one lady literally is talking with her mouth full during this call. She does this everyday. You can barley understand her she has so much food packed in her pie hole. Drives me insane.

Well they think since they are a home general etiquette doesn't matter. What was the news article where dude went back to work and masturbated in the office cause he thought he was still at home.

I work for the Forest Service and i can objectively say that deflating tires significantly increases your traction even on gravel roads.

Are people airing down for traction or comfort? I agree for ACTUAL rock crawling, tires running lower pressure comform to rocks better. If you are losing traction on a gravel road you need to revisit your choice of tires.

Comfort and to reduce chance of puncture. Also tears the trail up less.

Airing down gives more surface area on the ground doesn't really matter what you're wheeling it will help with everything

Both, as I don't get an option when airing down my tires. It just happens. You don't get to pick.

Lower pressure allows your tires to conform to rocks of all sizes, not just big ones. This directly correlates to a larger contact area, improving traction.

Ask Alex Honnold to hold himself up on a near vertical piece of glass (your tires at street pressure). Ain't happening. But, give him just 4 of the tiniest imperfections in the surface to place his toes and fingers, and he can be there all day (your tires deforming ever so slightly to the small rocks that make up a gravel road).

The physical constraints of rubber compounds and how they interact with various surfaces has an upper limit. And the difference between two different tires, one with enhanced gripping characteristics relative to the other, is easily and vastly outpaced by increasing the area of interaction through decreasing the pressure in the tires.

I dropped to 12 psi for a fsr last weekend camping, will continue to just for comfort and my suspension's sake. People can look at me sideways while im airing up omw out, idc. Physics should be enough to tell the truth here, no reason to overcomplicate things

Half the shit here in az is wash-board filled or rock engorged, do you really aspire for that "wooden-wheel feel"?

For the scenario of running that particular trail it would just be a comfort thing and not to rattle your teeth out.

Btw welcome to TW. And AZ bs thread is known for us assholes. But we are the tightest group in all of tw and would do anything for a fellow az taco guy.

I find it interesting it’s even a debate. More tire contacting ground= more grip. Seems pretty simple to me. Same way with in a rear wheel drive car on the street you’ll have more grip with 315’s rear compared to a 265. Generally more tire=more grip if your talking similar Compounds.
