    I have a 2016 OR DCSB AT 4x4 w/ 113k miles.

    The problem:
When I first start driving, it appears normal. When I turn off my street (it's always when I make a left turn) The truck will jump from 1000 to 1500 rpms on it's own will and shift hard into 2nd gear. I can counter the hard shift by letting go of the gas RIGHT when it starts revving on it's own..

I've done a tranny flush (at Toyota)
    had TSB-0077-16 applied.. nothing..

My next step is getting kdmax tune and go from there. ANYONE else have this issue and found a way to fix it?

Get a software update from Toyota. Have your transmission fluid level checked.

nothing against the tune U r interested in

yet why compound issues by adding b4 U clear the issues..............only makes matters worse

    while its only 1000-1500 rpms

it could result in a run away causing an accident

Get the update to 04B04 first, as you're still on 04B02. Once that happens see if the problem still exists. If so, I agree with @ROAD DOG, and you should not add a tune in the hopes it will make your problem go away.

When I had TSB-0077-16 applied two weeks ago, the advisor told me they check for updates. Would they not have updated to 04B04 then?..

TSB-0077-16 is for the 04B02 update. If they didn't use that specific TSB and just checked for updates then you'll likely have 04B04. Done OBD scanners can tell you what your calibration ID is.

They used that TSB. So that tsb is only for 04B02? So I should have them updated to 04 next? Why wouldn’t they do that instead of applying that tsb lol

The instructions are all basically the same. If they searched for an update, 04B04 would have been what came up. Get a scan tool and look at it yourself. Assuming they did anything, I would bet it's the 04B04 update.
Dealerships are lazy, so it would be no surprise if they didn't care to reference the most current TSB that covers ECU updates.

no one said anything against the tune

it would be foolhardy to install the tune when the OP is in jeopardy

    having issues

I agree. But the tuner is Papadee himself and can update the ecu to 04B04 if needed.

Only thing I got on paper after they did the update was “applied TSB-0077-16” and I called them back today and they said (lol) they don’t know if they updated it or not and don’t recall what they did and I’d be better off getting a new tranny… I asked them about manually checking the fluid level on the tranny after I had the flush and they said they can’t because the machine is faster and more efficient. SMH..

Take your truck to a transmission shop and have them manually check the fluid and I don't think I would be going back to that dealer .

Mine has done this a few times this week, only on the first shift in the mornings. I recently had the shifting TSB done, a few weeks back. Mine is the 04B04 version.

@PapaRee can read your calibration ID and update you without tuning you. He can even clear your LV's and AT. If you're set on getting the tune, at least wait until after your issue is resolved before going that far.

If the problem still exists, all people are going to see is you're tuned with KDMax and have a throttle issue. I'm sure that'll go over well for his business.

It definitely doesn't feel like a mechanical issue with the tranny, it's very intermittent. From what I've read on the kdmax page is that his tune can fix it. He told me himself it could fix it. I'll see what he says when I meet with him and go from there. Thanks for the advice!

    You coming friday Jeremy?
We can update it first and test drive. See if the TSB fixes the problem.
Either way, I will help you figure it out.
If it is mechanical, the TSB nor the tune will fix it.

Yeah man I can come Friday, I'll get off work around 12 and be over there by 2:45 if you're cool with that.
I'd like to do like you said for sure, do the updates and see if it fixes the issue, then we can tune.
