recently had a 4" lift installed, 285x65x18 installed, wheel spacers, and had a front end alignment done and when i got truck back i had codes on my truck saying check vehicle stability control system, pre-collision malfunction, and cruise control malfunction. i was wondering if there was cheap do it your self fixes to these problems or is it better to take to dealership?

Did they extend the lines? Could be pulling causing issue

I just finished with the 2" front spacer lift on my 21 TRD OR. After the install the alignment was off significantly. It caused the steering wheel to be clocked quite a bit which lead to the dreaded stability control, cruise control, pre-collision codes. I had the alignment completed a couple days ago and they did the zero point reset on the steering wheel. That didn't clear any of the codes. So I ordered an OBD-II reader from Amazon (Veepeak OBDcheck BLE) for $33. It came today and I downloaded the Garagepro app. It required an annual subscription for $32. I plugged it in, it read the codes, and cleared all of the codes in about 5 minutes. I am assuming it will not clear the code if the problem has not been corrected, or at least the code will come back if the problem comes back. But it was a cheap and easy way to clear the codes without visiting the dealer. I have heard doing this can leave a footprint in the ECU that the dealer might see if they look for it later. I'm not sure of the truth about that but since everything I have already done to my truck pretty much nullifies my warranty, so I am not to worried about it.

So I fixed all problems by downloading techstream and just resetting all the codes, everything has been working great so far.

Just to clarify. Correct, the warranty on the modded components are not covered by Toyota. The rest of the truck is still under warranty. Unless something fails because of a non Toyota component you’ll be fine. Toyota warranties the truck they built , not the mods.
As far as clearing the codes yes, if the problem was corrected the error will stay off. Can someone tell if it was cleared? Im not sure but nowadays I wouldn’t doubt it. No one should get pissy over code clearing. shouldn’t really matter .

Just curious about that (your clocked steering wheel). Did you follow the below procedure that Toyota recommends when you loosened the lower ball joint bolts?

CAUTION: Do NOT use the column steering lock to resist loosening torque. If necessary, steer the hubs to the full RH steering lock to break the lower ball joint bolts loose.

    -and-

WARNING: You MUST hand start these bolts before using an air tool. Do NOT use the anti-theft steering lock to resist tightening torque. If necessary, steer the hubs all the way to the full LH steering lock to to tighten the lower ball joint bolts.

And if anyone did get pissy, just claim your battery got unplugged.

No. I just watched a few YouTube videos and thought I knew it all… next time I will try to stay at a Holiday Inn the night before… and look deeper into the manufacture recommended steps….

From now on every thing gets blamed on a dead battery or a pot hole!
