I’m still on the lookout for an early sporty here. Everything that pops up lately is overpriced, hacked to death, or has wierd “it’s registered to my uncles dead roommate from college in Guam” . Passively looking for now but if one pops up at the right price I’ll jump on it.

Track day from last week on a cbr1000sp. Thank God i brought a change of underwear after this one!

Naked bikes over 140-150mph are scary enough. Wonder why he opted for the naked FZ. Either way, reminds me of the old turbo busa Ghostrider used to ride, he was a 100+ wheelie guy running from the European police.

I’ve always been a fan of bar-end mirrors. They would clean up the lines of your bike up front end too.

I don't get that at all. Ride the damn bike to the event and then ride the bike home.

Not trailer to 10 min away, then ride in clean with no bugs in your teeth, then ride back to trailer? :D

These roads in SD are super flat. And 80mph. Im not used to that. Im in my truck doing 75, and 2-up harley baggers fully loaded from Minnesota are passing me doing 100+. Its crazy. And im not even close yet. Im at least 200 miles away

I’m probably the only guy on the interstate doing 81 in an 80 instead of 90+ haha. Bikes pass me all the time. I’m happy to do 80s as every few mph over that gets progressively less fun for me, personally.

When my g/f and I rode to Spearfish, SD from PA back in 2018 we took 4 days to get there. On Monday night we had stopped for the night in Oacoma, SD and got a room. Tuesday morning we get up for the final travel day heading west and like you guys said the interstate is posted at 80 mph. It's a beautiful, clear morning. Sun is out and your sight line is the horizon. I mean you can see like 30 miles and the road is just straight as an arrow. We're 2-up and loaded for travel on my FJR1300 riding in the right lane. I look down at the Garmin and we're doing 102 mph. Seriously we're in the right lane, passing nothing and we're at triple digit speed. Craziest thing I've ever experienced to be able to just roll at those kinds of speeds with little or no worry of getting pulled over. Unfortunately at those sort of velocities my fuel mileage dropped off quite dramatically! My low fuel light started blinking at only 127 miles since last fill up and that used to take until closer to 200.

The only time I actually attended Sturgis was in 2001 and we trailered there. I would have liked to ride but we were going to be out for over 3 weeks, camping the entire time, and my g/f at the time had her son along. Under the circumstances trailer was really the only viable option. Of course we had everything with us including a kitchen sink......

The situation I am in right now is the Grom isn’t fast enough for the highway and the good roads are over an hour away on the highway. :annoyed:
We were stopped at a McDonald’s on the way up to the blue ridge parkway last weekend and a guy in the parking lot said to me “you know those things are a lot more fun when you ride them”

Seeing a Grom at Sturgis will be a first!

I always give a not to the Dual Sport/ADV guys who rode in on an 80’s 650 POS from nine States away while the dentists and doctors roll around duck walking their sparkly pretend toys haha.

Over the years Sturgis has gone down hill for me, personally, as far as there was always the naked old people haha but there seemed to be more wholesome and enjoyable things in the past than just loud naked drunks.

I did my pilgrimage to Sturgis in 1987. Rode from Texas and back. Things were drastically different back then. The only people that showed up in Sturgis back then were hard core bikers and drag racers. Safe travels to all.
