How long did you have to wait for your 2021 factory order?

Dealer shows the factory window sticker, which states it’s an access cab, Toyota vin lookup says the same… I can only HOPE that they just didn’t list my truck, perhaps it’s getting the port installed items installed?

 

They frequently put all incoming vehicles on their sites to drive up traffic. Just because it's on the site doesn't mean they're going to sell it from someone that "ordered" it.

 

I am confused too. She was so sure about i getting it by Sep 8th. She may try to stop me walking away and asking deposit back. As soon as she was so sure, i asked for temp VIN and build date. They doe not have it yet. If i am gonna get it by sep 8th, it must built around Aug 20-24th. I will update you.

 

If you're getting it sept 8th, the build date already past or it's right now.

 

Yeah the dealership told me that I got in just in time before Toyota stopped accepting the VSPP. By the way, mine expires 10/15/21.

 

Toyota still accepts and issues VSPP, just not many dealers take it. Why sell hard to come by inventory for less than MSRP when there are non-Toyota customers?
Mine is good thru December. Keeping my fingers crossed.

 

**UPDATE**- Just received a text today that production of my Lunar Rock Pro is being pushed to Aug 26th now. ugh!

Lol, it least you’re getting info, my dealer told me they’ve tried to allocate my truck twice every month for three months and just haven’t been able to get one, but now they have one on their website exactly the same as mine MT and all but an access cab rather than a double cab.

 

Dealer called me today with an update. Factory shutdowns pushed my truck production from the 11th to the 23rd. Frustrating. Under promise over deliver Toyota. Apparently it will still be a 2021 though.

 

Ummmm, where in the PNW are you! Apparently there’s an army green access cab trd sport manual trans in Tacoma.

 

This may be total bull or they tried to get swept/ exchange with another dealer. she called the manger , but i do not here what they talk. I am not in hurry to get. if this fell apart, i will try 2022 TRD Off. I need others to know " never trust car dealer, drug dealer and politicians.

 

I really feel like you are panicking without reason for the website listing.
I tried to get an allocation change from a "technology package" to an "advanced technology package" and failed.
Changing from an AC to a DC is a much bigger change... I suspect they didn't "repurpose" your truck. It is quite possible that they haven't gotten Toyota to accept the changes you wanted, but that has nothing to do with the fact that there might be an AC and you want a DC.
Please feel free to tell the dealership that they suck at communication and you want to bail, but quit worrying about the things they have listed on their website.
I've been working on a truck since mid June and the sales guy has at least (mostly) emailed me every week, if with nothing other than a "we don't know anything more than last time" email.

It would be pretty easy to create a sales website that listed 20 various taco's for sale. That doesn't mean that I have them.

 

Lol, yeah… I know don’t panic. It’s just that I placed my order on may 1st, and was told 30-90 days. We’re a little above 100 days since then, no communication unless I contact dealer, who told me it’s a rare truck to get and they just haven’t been able to get one. Yet I feel like the same truck in an access cab is even more rare. Perhaps I’ll call tomorrow to see if there’s any update.

 

Definitely call tomorrow.
Just don't worry about what they are advertising. The adds are basically meaningless at this point for most dealers.

 

It doesn't matter when you placed an order, it only matters if the dealer gets that truck allocated to them. Rare trucks take time, especially if they don't move a lot of them.

You should just call them and ask if the allocation request they put in to Toyota has been rejected. if it hasn't been rejected yet, then you have a chance.

 

Took me 6 months to finally get a dealer to draw the allocation for my build. Most gave up after a few rounds when I wouldn't budge on color. I finally have it in queue and it keeps being delayed. It's just the way toyota does production.

 

Whoda thunk it’d be so hard to order a truck the way you want it these days.

 

Took 11 weeks, my deposit on June 2, temp vin 10 days later. 7/6, received build date, 7/22.
7/23, actual vin to unit received. Delivery to dealer, 8/12 - 8/17. I was allowed to add a few more options on 7/9. Rep said factory approved. A week later, I asked to add LED headlights, not accepted, should have done it when others approved.
