I have a 2017 Tacoma I have a problem When I shift from reverse to drive I hear a small pop in the front wheel area nothing at high speeds just when I move forward after shifting into drive.

Could this be bad ball joints?

I imagine you'll hear it the other direction as well. It's likely brake pad slap from the pads shifting in the calipers. No idea why it does it on the Tacoma when other vehicles don't do it but it is pretty common.

Has it done this since brand new or did it just start making noise?

Oh that's good to hear. Just noticed mine starting it it a month or so ago in the same situation noted. I was thinking it was something worse but checked all the boots and bushings and all looked to be in good order.
