Man I need to fab a grapple for my Cub. I currently stack it on a pallet and dump it on the burn pile. I think a grapple would add seat time vs hand stacking everything. I have a ton of sumac to cut and burn.

I know a guy who bought plans and made 2 of these about 20 years ago. Here's a link that includes plans you can buy for $20 to build one.

Ive got dfx file for making a grapple. Been thinking about making a scaled down version for my mini skid steer.

That's pretty cool, looks like they use MC rims and tires, I'd imagine sourcing some of the odder stuff like leaf springs would be a bit harder today then 30-40 years ago. [even with the internet]

What is it? Previous owner left at the farm. Keep or scrap?

Leaning towards scrap, until I here otherwise.

I was in a hurry earlier when I posted the above. I included the wrong picture. This is the correct pic.

Mah pipe-pulley brotha! Mine has never let me down any time I've used it. In fact I cant say that I've heard of anything better for doing what it does as it does what it does so well. You'd be crazy to scrap yours.

Somone asked me why it was so good and I posed a question right back at him, and to you:
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

...which brings me to my next question.

    What would be more useful?

A stand alone grapple bucket that can pry out small root balls or a grapple that is added to an already existing standard bucket?

I've got myself convinced to build a stand alone version for my mini skid.

I'm gonna start loading up the files to the plasma table this weekend if time allows.

I've got some ideas on how to get away with using thinner iron that is sandwiched to make my desired thicknesses.

I may be looking for some testees if they are as easy to build as I believe they are.

Well, one time over at brother Clem's we used it. Man what a night. Got all drunk as sheee-it, went out in the field and set that sucker up. Next thing you know i wake up with the law breathing down our neck. Aunt Hilda found out about it. Said. "Look you young'ens need to quit using that pipe-pulley before you get yourselves kilt" So, like 1989?

Stand alone, the root grapple I have is made out of AR400 1/2" steel on teeth and I still manage to bend teeth every now and then.
I have some video, but unable to upload at the farm. It weighs 1,000lbs, just make sure what you build is stout and your machine can carry with a load.

The grubber I have is also AR400 steel and it 3/4" thick. Grubber works best for pulling trees and brush, root balls smaller foot print and more energy vs try to engage with grapple with 72in bite.
Here is my grubber mounted on that Rental Cat.

Keep in mind I'm clearing my land by USDA guidelines, I received a grant. I have to pull out everything I possibly can by the roots, any regrowth get hits with herbicide, add native seed grasses in Spring.

I was pretty sure the stand alone would be more useful, but wanted reassurance.
