I've never seen anyone use marker lights. Just throw a flag on it. Or better yet just use the tail from the ratchet strap used to secure the kayak, trail it to the end of the kayak and use that.

I just use a flag for my kayak. People definitely do some sketchy shit without even a flag (6’ of lumber sticking out the backseat window of a civic sketchy). Never seen lights for a canoe, kayak, ladder, etc

I tuck my strap tails into the bed cubby and close them in there so they don't fly around.

Oh I've seen some sketchy shizz too. But, I figure do it right if I'm going up into NMW with it. Cool beans though is that RI is like, have at it as long as it's less than 6 feet you're good so my day to day I don't have to worry at all going to the pond to paddle about a bit :D

I hear that, last thing you want is to give a NH or ME state trooper a reason to pull you over and give you a hard time

Take this for what it's worth... in both NH and Maine, for many years I carried a 15' canoe in the bed of my Tacoma with nothing more than a flag tied to the back. Up the highway, back roads, everywhere.

same here with a 16’ canoe, had a little red flag on the back (actually a remove Before flight flag come a F15 eagle) and I never got stopped up here in New England.
Hope your lines get tight and your fish keep getting bigger (fish stories)

I have to believe you’d be fine with just a flag. How many times do you see a trailer being towed with no lights? Can’t imagine something long in the bed would give you an issue as long as you can still see the lights clearly and there’s a flag if it’s really long.

Mine doesn't either, but I heard the Mini 2 does and there isn't a setting to turn it off on that unit.

You could just get one of those inexpensive obnoxious battery bicycle tail lights and stick/bungee it onto the back of the ‘yak if you’re that worried…or just don’t drive like a dink you’ll be ok with a flag.

I just use a red T-shirt, run a bungee through sleeve to sleeve and attach to rear of the load

Get yourself an electric 4 inch grinder and some wheels (cut off and flapper), a ball joint press (c clamp style) and some cheap unibits and use lots of oil while drilling.

Cop would certainly have to be having a real bad day to give him a hard time about it.

I broke down and ordered an 18k BTU Mr. Cool DIY Mini Split. Between it, the line set cover, pad, and electrical stuff I'm at about $2k. I'm thinking it'll take care of my living room, kitchen, and dining room.

I have a friend who put two in his house, so I think I can bribe him with food to help me with it.

    They aren't too bad.

I won't lie - I am happy to have central air right about now. Also, lets me leave my dog at home without worrying. We have one of them fancy thermostats too.

I wouldn't say wanting to not be in a 95 degree house is breaking down

Nice let me know how those work out - I currently have two Midea U-Shaped Inverter AC's and a LG Dual inverter window AC's cooling the house. Granted I only have the bedroom, livingroom/office and kitchen cooled... Minisplits would be a nice touch esp for the winter when it's cold as balls in my house...

I sell mini splits for a living( and many other heating and pluming items) make sure they are installed properly and you will be all set. I have no knowledge of that brand so i can’t say that much, just installation is everything.

The hottest I've ever seen my house get is actually 83. It tends to be cooler where I am than in the lower more eastern areas, we don't tend to get much past 90 outside. I just want to take the edge off and keep the humidity a little more manageable.

A friend has two and loves them. He uses them for heat in the fall and said it seemed more cost effective than firing up the pellet stove. When it gets really cold, though, he said they're less practical and he stops doing that.

He has a 12k upstairs in his bedroom and an 18k in his living room downstairs. He said the 12k can just about manage the house on its own for cooling.

I have Daikins in my MDF and IDF rooms at work - ranging from 9k to 36k. They've been solid.

I'm down near Providence. We are actually in a different climate zone I think, technically.

I assume that subarctic is Mt Washington and some of the peaks of the white mountains. And there's a little dollop in Maine, I assume Katahdin.

So - yeah, technically I am in a different climate zone than y'all. So, I have no sympathy saying I use A/C more
