If your thinking about it means your not attached to the truck or the payments so negotiate and sell it to some one who wants it. But I don't know what available these days with all the shortages. even used are nuts now. so think long and hard because if you truly want out now is the time.

Well I think I’m gonna keep it. One of the reasons I’m even thinking about it is I think I have the rear diff whistle or whatever it is. It aggravating but I also have a 100,000 mile warranty. I’m not sure that’s what it is but didn’t have it till they rotated the tires. Took it to them for it and of course they couldn’t replicate it. So I guess wish me luck and I’ll turn up the radio. Lol!

My suggestion, keep the truck and when prices are sane again get a older yet reliable daily. I daily a 2009 RAV4, Tacoma is for weekend fun and truck stuff.

Even at 32,000 miles a year you can run it for 10 years with a little maintenance .

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Those are good miles - long trips are better for durability than many short trips around town. I have had little trouble with every vehicle I've ever owned (save for the first one) to exceed 100K miles with minimal maintenance or repairs. Most drives were 25+ miles each time.

Mistake was already made. (you have the wrong tool for your job). - Why would it be ok to pay all that depreciation (and bearing all that FUEL cost!) on a PRO for the benefit of your employer???

This is a behaviour I do not understand... I recall counselling a new hire because she was loosing sleep over $$ issues. I knew she made decent $$ as a skilled professional. Turns out she lived in a trailer as she could do no better because she HAD to have a current-year -excessively - expensive luxury car (well beyond her means), and sport those super-expensive handbags, etc., etc. and she was sinking into ever increasing debt, had no savings and hoped to retire in a handful of years... How does THAT make sense?

I'd sell privately with the goal of braking even (taking ALL costs into account - tax, licence, extended warranty cost, etc.). And I'd get a comfy / fun / cheap / high MPG vehicle suitable for the job and your use. You should-end up with some $$ in your pocket... (Just in FUEL savings!)

And what are you going to do when you are all excited to take advantage of this once in a lifetime deal and the salesperson comes back saying sorry my manager won't approve the price I quoted you over the phone?

But the salesperson is confident that if you agree to purchase a new truck for $50k he's sure his manager will approve $40k for your trade. $5k less than promised.

Next time you get a cold call like this ask the salesperson to fax/email you a signed contract and watch how quickly he says you'll need to come down to the dealership so that "we can talk".

When this all blows over there's going to be a lot of people all over the automotive spectrum that will have wished they just exited.

The same goes for meme stocks and buttcoins

I would sell your truck to the dealer for $45K and buy your exact same truck back from them for $48k the same day. There’s a lot of benefit to this:

1- the salesman is now a friend for life.
2- you are back in the truck you wanted in the first place.
3- you have a great story to tell about how much you got for your used taco.
4- The dealership’s manager has been wanting to get his daughter Betsy a second horse. Betsy’s a great kid and really deserves it.

I put a good set of AT on it and go wheeling. Forget about what the dealer is even saying.

If your employer is making you drive miles. You should negotiate a company car, gas card or a vehicle allotment. You shouldn’t be putting miles on your own vehicle without some sort of compensation.
