I appreciate the explanation and pic because I wouldn’t have any idea otherwise lol

marching bands are cool as hell. All that practice makes for some awesome shows at the games.

Yep its pretty fun. Especially college marching band because the games are bigger and we also do a new show for every game.

yeah haha. I'm a baby. I took a semester off because COVID school wasn't the best value and I was working during the time we talked at sleepy creek, so that could explain it

I've got a bunch of 1/0ga welding cable around from my old aux battery install, but I doubt I've got long enough lengths of it. Oh well.

The little research I've done suggests the same, so now I'm taking it as gospel truth. 240v or bust.

It only cost me about $70 to make my extension cord. I bought the wire online as well as the ends. It was very easy. I’ll have to dig up the wire I bought.

I used 10 gauge for mine since it’s only 30’ and on a 30a breaker. Without looking at a chart again or knowing the draw on your welder, you could probably get by with 6 gauge.

Definitely go for a 220v welder if your dryer plug will suffice and get something with shielding gas. If you can't swing the gas setup at first, you can always run flux wire through the machine during the meantime (need to switch polarity too). Just can't go from a 110v flux only to 220v w/gas without buying a new unit, which is the predicament I've put myself in lol. FWIW I think the new line of welders from Harbor Freight (vulcan and titanium) are all pretty good units for a fair price.

 That is some serious dedication...and also totally explains why college bands always put on a great show!

I’ve heard so many things about rear leafs, I can’t seem to keep it straight. Are these the ones that are known to get pretty squeaky?

Yeah, Dakar’s are notorious for that. But this is their newest version that addresses some of the issues but I dont know if they actually helped. I haven’t seen much feedback on them.

Since Glacier/Yellowstone/Teton NP were basically on fire we decided to camp/drive the blue ridge parkway. Camped 4 nights, with the last in the Smoky Mountains. It was beautiful, hope to do it on motorcycles some day!

I love it out there. The only thing I get wary about in the fall is the random rain turning to ice.

We're going to a Tech game in October when we go down to see our son. We'll be looking for you on the field, unless I get obliterated during the tail gate. My wife makes a mean jello shot.
I've got the Titanium 170 and have been pretty happy with it. Make sure you get a good welding helmet so you can see WTF you're doing, especially if you have old eyes like me

Hail is related to thunderstorm activity, not seasonal weather...so technically it's "hail season" year round. :D Must be some good storms in your area!
