Truck won't go over 80-82 MPH

I have gotten mine over 90 mph and I wasn’t trying.

 

Are you driving a four banger? Regular freeway driving no problem exceeding the posted limit by half again as much. Plenty of room left.

What did you run? Almost five decades ago I ran a ‘68 Nova. Started life as a 350. Ported, relieved, stroked and bored. Edlebrock intake, Holley double pumper four. Headman headers and an exhaust cut out. Kept it quiet enough until I wanted to make some noise.

Ran at a local strip, Brotherhood raceway. But we weren’t exactly strangers to straight stretches of highway.

It wasn’t a 350 when I finished building it. The one guy I couldn’t come close to ran a lime green Road Runner with an engine that started as a 440. His dad owed a shop and the car was a rolling advertisement. Definitely not street legal.
But that doesn’t matter when all the local cops shopped at the store.

You 350 haters don't know WTF you are talking about. Did you even have one and modified it. I have a 93 Vette and it's best run was 12.2 @ 115. It could easily have been in the 11's with more $$$$$ invested.

 

Any time you get two racers together you’ll have a disagreement on what engine is best. This of course leads to the only way to decide. Head to head with a straight stretch of road.

I really wish I still had that Nova. It was totaled sitting still at a stoplight. No match for a Galaxy 500 that didn’t stop.

 

Anything can be in the 11s with enough money thrown at it. Stock mid range pony cars are knocking on that door.

Oh and mod/coyote is superior to any SBC.

Interesting...tell that to Nascar, Score Offroad, and Best of the Desert to name a few. Plenty of trucks capable of reaching upwards of 150 mph. Sorry but you're statement in complete nonsense.

 

Sorry, those are race trucks modified to do one thing, ONE thing. There are plenty of fast trucks out there, the Tacoma isn't one of them.
