BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2020 M340i, M340i xDrive, 540i, 540i xDrive, X3 M40i, 2020-2021 X4 M40i, 745Le xDrive, 2019-2021 Z4 M40i, and 2020-2021 Toyota Supra vehicles. During engine start, the engine management software may cause loss of braking assist.

 

...^^^... I know 2 people who would have purchased the new Supra if it would have been 100% Toyota.

They didn't like the "long term dependability factor" of BMW.

 

As the Supra's chief engineer stated, partnering with BMW was the only economically feasible way to get an inline-6 in the car.

 

You can buy an in-line 6 from bmw. Instead they bought the whole drivetrain and interior. Toyota is lying.

 

And Toyota wouldn't have come up with a better transmission than the ZF 8-speed and better interior than BMW, so whatever.

As you know the A80 Supra was discontinued because it sold poorly. Evidently the purist fanboys didn't buy the car at the time. Toyota now sells more A90 Supras in a month, than the A80 did in a year at its peak. It was the right business decision to get the car built by BMW.

 

Sounds like something an A90 fanboy would say

 

If I were in the market for a new vehicle right now, I'd be more likely to get a A90 Supra than a Taco, because there's 1 Supra in inventory amongst the 4 dealers in my city and 0 Tacomas.

 

That definitely sounds like something a 3rd genner would say

 

Spoken like a true first-genner...

 

I got my first gen Taco's engine in my 1st gen 4Runner so I'm better twice over.
