I will never do this all myself again! Drilling the bolt holes was nearly impossible. The frame steel is so hard that it took so much effort and over $100 in drill bits. I should have used a mag-drill. The prepping, priming, and rock guarding of the sliders took a lot of time and effort.
At first, the installation and painting cost I got for estimates seemed very steep. Now I see why. Next time I'll be getting someone else to do all the work!

So yeah I think I based my 2.5 spacer off of your original post, lol. So FYI, just put in a 2" spacer this am and I am smooth as silk. No vibes at all. And for reference I have Dakar HDs plus an AAL.

 

Bought new front turn signal bulbs since my front drivers went out. First bulb to replace (2014 - besides headlight bulbs due to Ultimate Headlight Mod).

Nice paint job! I just put 3 coats of Tremclad, then scratched them all up on rocks the next weekend.
This is a little late for you but this might help someone else. When I did mine a friend and I drilled in 3 steps: 1) 1/8" bit in a cordless drill, 2) ~3/8" bit in a corded drill, 3) 1/2" bit in an air powered drill. For holes that had a wall on the back side my buddy would do the drilling with the 1/2" bit while I pushed against his shoulders. It was hard work but we got it done, and I like that they are bolt on so I can remove them to mod or repaint.

 

Yeah I know lots of people just rattle can them because they get used and a abused.
I don't "rock crawl" so not a worry for me. I got them because they will protect on any trail if need be. I also wanted to used them as a side step.
Rattle can will also rust very quickly in Alberta
