1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

Exhaust, all the swap parts, and some other odds and ends are included. I need to find a engine (easy) and a transmission (not easy) and some axles to make it move. Past that it’s a 4 week CPR (Calipers pads and rotors) and it’s drive-able for now.

When first introduced, it was a car for the stars with Doris Day, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and the Shah of Iran ordering one.

Things that I think contributed to the demise that are rarely written.

1) The US started falling into a post-WWII recession in 1957.

2) Resources had been allocated for Edsel which also suffered from the same recession.

3) Thunderbird became a 4-seater personal luxury car in 1958.

4) Customers were looking for yearly radical styling changes and more chrome.

5) Ford eventually built a plant in Wixom MI to build Thunderbirds and Continentals.

How these people were even smart enough to breed is beyond me.

 

Procreating is the easy part, any idiot can do that. It's what you do with the results that requires some intelligence.

 

And to top it off, I saw some posts that say the whole story was made up. Unbelievable.

I couldn't be a vegan, I ate a big salad last night as dinner and shit like a goose this morning. I'd have no bowels left if all I ate was roughage.

 

I couldn't do it either. It's hard enough with my wife being vegetarian and me not liking to cook for myself, lol. But at least that still means cheese, eggs, dairy etc. I could never do away with those
