Time will tell but it looks like there’s plenty of space to squeeze in there.

Yup, the 112 used to be the only offending spring from Dobinsons, now all are

what would be your recommendation for a set of leafs be?

im personally partial to deavers, as I’ve had good experience with them in the past. But I was neither running your setup nor was it on an tacoma.

My understanding is that Deavers also work well. I'll find out soon enough as I have a pair on order to go with the Archive HH and shackles I ordered.

I can only recommend Deaver at this point.
Archive springs are in motion, but its been a slow process. Widespread testing in next couple months.
We'll see, maybe I'll be putting in a large order soon

If you need another tester, I'd be in the "mid-to-heavy" range with a constant ~600lb load and up to 1000lb on trips. Currently have the Dob 112's.

Good luck with leadtimes. You will have to find 3rd parties that have residual stock that somehow hasn't been bought up by now. I placed an order direct with Deaver back in March. After 3 check-in's on status and subsequent push out's, I cancelled (thank you @AccuTune Offroad ) in May. My last conversation with a guy Deaver was that they were still fulfilling Oct 2020 orders...in May...

I ordered a set of deavers (expedition stage 2) two weeks ago from headstrong (which are drop shipped from deaver) and had them 2 days later. I was told by the guys at ADS that the stage 2 and 3s are in stock and the 1s have the long lead times…. FYI for anyone who reads this and may be looking for the deaver expeditions in stage 2/3

Have you looked into alcan leaf springs? I had a custom set made through them and the turn around was pretty quick. I have not installed the leafs yet though since my 2nd gen was totalled before I received the new leafs. Now I'm collecting parts for the 3rd gen build.

I’m probably a year out from purchasing a set. I ordered hammer hangers and a u-bolt flip kit, but I still have to order a shock relocation. While all that’s going on I’m finalizing other aspects of my build so I can get a good ballpark of a final weight for when I go to @AccuTune Offroad for coilovers and rear shocks, plus the right rate Deavers.

I’ve got time. If this logistical nightmare is still going on when I’m ready to buy a set of springs… I’ll (and all of us) have much bigger problems to worry about.

Any leaves that extend inside the shackle cavity usually end up scraping the shackle, jamming into it and damaging it.

Apparently many leaf spring designers don't understand how leaves slide sideways during articulation, or the clearance necessary for Tacoma shackles.

Thanks for clarifying. I’ll still say that “usually” (speculation) and “do for sure” are not the same thing. Before black listing something it’d be good to test and/or wait for feedback. From what I see I’ve got a lot of room in there with the newer Dobinson’s and the picture I posted is the side with tighter clearance. The driver’s side has a much larger gap. I’ll do some testing over the next couple of weeks and get back to you, but so far I’ve been golden. About 150 miles so far with an easier trail done this morning.

Head to a 4Wheel Parts of off road shop that have the flex ramps. Once you get the rear up on one side you'll see how much the leaves move laterally like @ARCHIVE mentions and you'll see if/how much binding you'll have with your setup.

The closest off road shop I know of is at least 100 miles away up in Portland. I’ll see what I can do before I head that way next week.

dobinsons springs fan out and shift a descent amount towards the middle of the leaf pack. I haven’t noticed much at the top, but I wouldn’t rule it out
