how much did your suspension settle on both front and rear? And how long did it take to settle?

 

I am.

3rd notch on the 6112's.

In the rear I pulled the top overload (0.6 inches) to achieve limit lift to 2-ish inches and level truck.

Tires are 265/70-17

 

Love the truck! Im looking to buy 6112's now.. The chart says 3 notch gives you 1/2" of lift in the front? Is that all that truck has of lift? it looks more

 

Your eyes are correct - I got about 2 inches of lift.

If you relook at the chart you will see it says #3 = 1.59inches on a 2nd Gen. So, it was reasonably close. I had expected it to settle a bit more and it's pretty much held.

Good luck. I'm quite pleased with them and my medium Dakars. Headstrong sells a full kit of 6112/5160 and Dakars.

Strongly recommend you have whoever you buy the 6112's from that you have them assemble them.

 

Whoops! I forget that 2nd gen #3 gets that much lift on #3.... #6 gives 3rd gen 2" of lift, and many people say it is extremely stiff.. Trying to decide which route to go now.

My plan was to have the vendor build the 6112's... Out of curiosity why do you also suggest it?

 

The shock body diameter is so big and spring clearance so limited that hand tool spring compressors won’t work / are really iffy.

So, if you don’t buy them assembled you end up having to find and then pay a shop anyway. I made that mistake.

Simple answer, buy them assembled.

 

For the Icon AAL. Did you keep the overload in or out?

 

I’ve been running the Baja kit w/touted spacers for a few years now. Found two failed nylocs in valley of the gods, mangled the top threads trying to get them tightened enough to get me home. Lower bushings and top hats are shot, and need to destroy parts to fix.

So. I’ve been digging in this thread and the search is vague lots of conflicting info. Need to order new front shocks ASAP.

Anyone know the actual differences between the 6112 vs pro vs Baja in terms of valving? Debating which version I’ll replace my current Baja with.

Sorry. Newbie chiming in here guys. Maybe this info will be helpful to some.

I have a stock-ish 2015 trd off road DCSB. No extra weight beside a camper shell.

I bought the 6112 used already assembled with 650lbs springs. I rode on this set up for….1 year and 1 month, and it was ok. I didn’t love the ride quality. Off roading was fine but still bumpy. Always had to air down to 14-15psi.

skip forward to today. I installed the 600lbs coil springs. What a difference. Truck feels so much smoother. And I’m maxed out on the perches. 6/6 on both sides with 1/4” spacer on the drivers side.

so my advise is…..get the right spring rate. I honestly didn’t love the shocks with the 650lbs spring rate, but now….wow

 

No armor/bumper/winch/etc, yea 650lb/in are too hard.

 

FWIW 600lb springs 2” or so of lift. No complaints here.

I recently installed 6112/5160 w/ Wheeler's 3-leaf AAL. Front is set to 6/5 passenger/driver. 2019 TRDOR DCSB.

When I first installed them, truck was just about dead-nuts level. Now, 3-ish months later, the rear has settled and I'm nose high.

Has anyone else experienced this? Should I keep waiting, or go ahead and lower the front a notch each side?

FWIW - I don't have a bumper/winch (yet), and unlimited alignments so I'm not worried about having to keep doing alignments.

 

Add overload if you don’t have it in will add 1/2” of lift.

 

Yeah, forgot to add that I took them out, based on everything I read about it making it a rough ride.

 

No ruff ride. Overload engages when leafs can’t hold weight then compress and overload holds leafs
