So crazy, back around 5 years ago when I built a couple wheelers, I used to get 1.75" .120 dom for $2.75 a foot

Yeah, prices are a little wild right now. But even with steep pricing it’s still not terrible if you’re a DIY guy. I think the lowest I was getting it for was around 2.50 back in 2019

Holy fuck hahaha did you just drill out the holes on the stock hub to accept the larger stud?

was designed so that OEM Bump pad will miss the slapper tabs if you dont run the slapper (which requires cutting off the OEM bump pad structure)

yup drilled them out to 43/64’s which was just barely larger than the factory chamfer in the backside. used the same studs that will be in my rear end when I get it from camburg, they are a little long but oh well…lol

Technically not lt but this is still probably best place to ask:
So I'm switching to spring under axle with archive hammer hangers and deavers but as I'm cycling the suspension it feels like its binding slightly that last couple inches of droop travel where the shackles are about flat. Is this normal? Am I letting it droop too far? I had 3.6 shackles but it was worse like that so I extended them as much as could fit (4.25 ish) and its still doing it a little :/

On my HH if I let the shackle go completely flat it wants to stay stuck like that, same with the bamf hangers. So I have mine strapped right before that point.

I figured that was the case but I don't have the shocks mocked up yet or any point of reference really so I wasn't sure, thanks! You got the measurement of the straps or pics of the mounting points so I can copy or get some ideas goin?

I don’t have any pics handy but I welded a square tube between the frame rails directly above the axle and mounted my straps to that.

you’ll be fine without straps. It only happens at extreme droop and even then if the shackle happens to get stuck you can just whack it with a hammer and it’ll pop free.

For those guys that have heimed tie rods, how are you making them? I know camburg offers the inner joint as a starter kit so to speak. Are you just talking to a local machine shop to get the rest made? I assume most with heims are using a solid chunk of machined stainless steel or maybe aluminum? Though I guess you could make it yourself out of mild steel tube. Just curious to see what others are doing.
