I bought that car in the early 1980's for $600 from the original owner, with the SS hubcaps and shell, with 80k miles on it. Perfect black paint and interior. Drove it a year until the 2 speed powerglide tranny started slipping. Took it to a transmission shop for an estimate and sold it to the shop owner for $1150. Had a lot of cars like that back in the day that, by todays standards, I gave away. Rare 65 Nova SS fastback , 68 Torino GT, 64 Impala 2 door V8 with 60k miles, Dodge Charger, Plymouth Satellite, 2 Camaros, etc., etc., etc.. Camaros were the only other ones I sold for over $1000. Now when I watch the car auctions my wallet just screams in agony.

Remember when you could get Porsche 356s for under five grand? I still make myself sad for selling all of the cars that I did because those things are just ridiculous now.

Oh yes I do remember. I remember walking new car lots with my Dad looking at new Big Block Mustangs for under $5k in the late 60's. As a teen my schoolmates in the neighborhood had cars like a 66 GTO tri-power, a 70 hemi Cuda, couple of 70 Chevelles, best friend had a big block 442, 1 kids parents let him drive their Plymouth Superbird. It was just an awesome time. I worked in service at a Ford dealer straight out of high school in the 70's. I saw the most amazing cars, and even did service work on some, that would be worth well over $100k today. 2 coworkers owned Boss 429 Mustangs then. One coworker, that bracket raced a Challenger, sold me a set of heads, a cam, an intake and 4 barrel for my Charger for $100 and HELPED me install it. Memories.

Nice! Is that side mirror turn signals on your truck? Was that a factory option?

I am almost embarrased to say this but my hands are tied. I love, and always loved, the Pyrite Mica color on the Tacoma. I was super stoked when I bought my 2012 SR5 a few weeks ago. I did a few mods, I did tons of catch up maintenance and, even with 144k miles, this truck runs, shifts and rides awesome. I even got most of the scratches out and put a shine back in the paint. This is how it looks now.
    20210810_131458.jpg
Well then today happened. I found a 2008 Off Road with 83k miles and, once I drove it, I just could not turn down the deal. I wish it was Pyrite Mica but it is what it is.
    20210817_141243.jpg
So now I am very hopeful my son will buy the 2012 from me at a very good low price. If not then it will go up for sale a little under the market value. I have put a lot of sweat into this one only to let it go. Can't drive both and already have too many vehicles.

You found a gem with that low of miles on that year model. Nice looking truck.
At least your replacing a Yota with another Yota.
