What are your expectations of a Tacoma Hybrid?
    More power? More milage? Both?
Seems to me, Toyota would have made one by now. If it would work better, it would already be out on the market.

A dual drivetrain would be badass. Electric front axle, Gas rear.

And why are we resurrecting a 2015 thread again?

In all likelihood Toyota will utilize it's existing proven synergy drive used in SUVs and mini vans. Consists of 2.5 L ICE and electric motors to drive front wheels and electric motor for rear wheels. 219 - 302 hp, 50% increase in fuel economy, no transfer case or rear drive shaft.

The next generation Tacoma is using the Tundra Frame so it's going to be a rear wheel drive based vehicle though.

Huh? Im not saying that I want a hybrid. Im good…. Ask Toyota your questions .

They announced they will have a Tacoma Hybrid out by 2025. Its not on the market yet as its a 4th gen offering.

I don't think Toyota will create a hybrid Taco any time in the immediate future.

Toyota bet a lot on Hydrogen power, but they sorta lost that bet when the majority of the world moved toward electric. Now they're one of the biggest lobbiers towards fighting the general push for electric vehicles, despite the Prius being more or less the face of hybrid cars. It's costing them money as more companies switch to electric, but they're too deep into the effort to drag their feet, so they're spending money to lobby for gas vehicles rather than investing in the tech for more electric ones.

    Interesting article on it here.

We were discussing this in a different thread. I really want to see a Hybrid Tacoma and there's no reason they couldn't do it in the next-gen truck imo.
