Hi, has anyone got any suggestions on what might be causing the problem I'm having with my 2010 Tacoma air vents; Air blows out only through the top (defrost area), regardless of the switch position, it won't blow out of the dash vents, or the floor. The A/C goes on and the A/C light goes on, but the RECIRCULATE button light does not come on.
The fan speeds work OK and the A/C blows cold and the heater blows hot and I can mix the temperature OK.
I talked to one mechanic and he thought it might be the panel (with the 3 switches; fan speed, temp and vent mode). I found a used one on e-bay, it just came in, but nothings changed, just air through the defrost area on top.
Any help will be appreciated, thanks!

Maybe something clogging the vents. Mice/squirrels have been known to build nests in crazy places.

Mode Control Servo Motor probably had a broken gear.

Jimmy, thanks for your input and diagram, now I'll be able to find it. I'll post my results after it's working again.

Jeff & boogie, sorry - I meant to thank you also for your input.
Jeff - Jimmy agrees with you and I appreciate your time.
Boogie - Thanks for your input as well, but thank God I don't have a mouse/squirrel problem.

Update - I haven't ordered the Mode Control Servomotor yet, but did remove it. Three screws, no problem. I was also able to turn the shaft and get the air deflected to the dash vents.
    Two things:
The part number on the servo itself is 52402808 with 030092231A under it. This can't be found, but on another thread I found that Toyota's part number is 87106-04050, readily available for about $115, many sites.
I unplugged the wire plug from the servo and found 4 wires:
White/Black - With my volt/ohm meter I found that this is grounded all the time, as it should be per the Haynes Repair Manual wiring diagram.
Pink - This had 12V in any position of the mode switch. This also is correct.
Green - This did not register any voltage or ohms in any position of the mode switch. The wiring diagram is limited and I could not determine what should/should-not be there.
    Green/Black - The voltage changed with the position of the mode switch (vent - 12V, vent+floor 9.59V, floor 6.12V, def+floor 2.61V and def 0V)
Anybody know if this is what I should see? I'm concerned about no reading on the green wire, and don't want to order the part til I'm sure it's the fault.
The other puzzling thing is on the dash panel, the RECIR button light does not come on, Unless based upon the position of the servomotor, it might get power from the green wire. I'm beginning to grasp at straws here. The wiring diagram does not show how the A/C or RECIR button lights get their power. I have checked all fuses - ok.
    Any additional assistance is appreciated.

That Green wire appears to be for Defrost command. Probably just to activate the A/C when selected.
Wouldn't worry about the other stuff right now, slap an actuator in it and see what happens.

    All,
Thanks for your interest and replies. I just changed out the Mode Control Servomotor and everything works as it should again, the light on the RCIR button is also on again.
I appreciated the input, I guess that's why these type forums work.
    Thanks again!

If you can't switch it by manually moving the shaft on the HVAC case then most likely you have a broken blend door.

Or the foam has come loose and is binding the door from moving all the way.
