Hmmm $300 used for a JB1 worth it?

And I can't find definitive proof that it doesn't effect the ECU or warranty claims

It really sucked. Two people and two screwdrivers. Really, the thing that helped the most was BG In-Force. Rust is what was holding the strut in the knuckle.

I mean... it's $379 new. Personally, I would get a JB4 over the JB1. It gives you more functionality.

As far as your warranty goes, I guess do your research.

IIRC, I don't think it's detectable. BUT... on some vehicles you have to break some snap bolts to access the ECU to hook up some connectors. Some cars have snap bolts. Some do not. I think that's their safety seal. But you can get replacement bolts. So there's that.

Hmmm yeah and wow it's only $100 more for the JB4. $35 for the wired connector.

HMMMMMMMMMMMM more research is required for sure

I’ve read a lot of stuff about people being worried about rain and the air box mod on these MK7s and I got the opportunity to test out if water can get in.

I drove to Ephrata to pick up a sweet new gold bag, but on my way back got wrecked with a really gnarly storm.

screenshot from the video I took:

    3CE9146A-B7EB-46D2-910E-37A96E03C38F.jpg

When I got home the storm let up I immediately popped the hood to see what was wet. Keep in mind this was driving in a HEAVY downpour. Going 20mph to 65 mph

Whole grill was wet under the hood

    DA80A1A1-35C4-448A-9B56-EF4CC234CF75.jpg

The modded side was definitely getting wet

Checked under the hood just to be thorough

    F3627F9A-769F-4990-ADDA-E433C4945FA6.jpg

Zipped the air box too off and it was dry af:

    E0988731-2D99-4F79-A541-A1765358260B.jpg

The tiny droplets of water were from the rain starting to come back again as my car doesn’t fit in my garage.

    124BF4A9-342A-4B1B-B3B9-19D106472F0B.jpg

So overall best case scenario. Got a wild storm that came in and cause many to pull over as it was a driving rain.

No water in the air box and no leaking from the panoramic roof. Overall stoked!

Edit: I wonder what this part of the airbox is for? It seems like it's letting unfiltered air through

Didn't know that was possible. Kinda makes it a no-brainer.

Also, needs MOAR driving lights! Should do something like amber LP6s just to be really over the top.

I am most certainly afflicted. I've never owned a stock vehicle in my life. And that includes my '96 Geo Prizm hooptie.

Well I braved 90 degree heat with 99% humidity to install my 1up racks I’ve been sitting on.

This proprietary hardware is what makes these work so well. secure and well

Getting dark so I added cut channel rubber to fill the gaps

even the front gaps (front cross bar width is greater than the rear)

Now I finally feel like it’s my car!

I have to tweak the rack a little, as it rattles in the fully closed position.
