No I have not mounted them yet.

I plan on removing the section of center dash, that the A-trac button and my current compressor button are in. Beside the 12v sockets.

I am going to dremel it all perfect and mount the 4 switch bank there.

Couple weeks ago when we actually went to use the truck, it was hot enough we needed the AC :anonymous:

On the highway out to the trail, it took a long time for the AC to actually start pumping cold air. It did eventually do it.

I turned the truck off to air down.

When the wife started it back up to get going again, there was a loud noise from the AC compressor area under the hood for about 30 ~ 45 seconds. Since I was outside the truck when she started it, I was able to get an idea of shiz.

Then the AC light went to disco mode and no more AC.

We diagnosed it as the AC compressor clutch plate and bearing. I bought the entire assembly with the magneto in case it was worse than expected.

These are the AC Compressor clutch, snap rings, and spacer kit part numbers.

    Description:A/C Compressor Clutch
    Part Number: 8841004062

    Description: Spacer Kit
    Part Number: 8831704010

    Description: Snap Ring
    Part Number: 8836504010

    Description: Snap Ring
    Part Number: 8836504020

The AC compressor clutch plate was toasty, as well as the bearing it and the belt ride on was gone. Glad I stopped driving it after we discovered this.

Replaced them both. As well as the lower idler pulley.

    AC all fixed :headbang:

Truck does not make any noise now when idling or driving. Nice and quite like new again :cookiemonster:

That bearing was destroyed in the AC clutch and I think making all the noise from under there I could hear. I thought I had impacted my fan on some snow when I went into a snow bank at 50km/h while snow wheeling:burnrubber:

Now I believe it was more this bearing and face plate starting to go or that I smelt go , from snow being pushed against the belt and causing tension on the entire system. There was a burning smell, the moment I smelt it, I turned the truck off. Then spent an hour clearing snow out from the belt area with a screw driver. Before I could winch myself out.

Which makes more sense now that I know how the entire defrost system works. It uses the AC compressor I believe. I run that bitch on high, a lot of times defrost when snow wheeling. As I LOVE to snow wheel in snow storms. So I have been using the AC system way way more than I thought I was.

Spent quite a few hours in the rig this weekend.

Can not believe how much more comfortable the new shifter is.

When I drive off road, even on dirt roads. I take over and select what gear I want the truck in. Drive it more like a manual than an auto off road.

    :cookiemonster:

I always sit with my elbow on the center console and I have quite long arms, I did not notice before that I was always reaching for the transmission shifter.

This was the mod I was missing. The shifter is directly at the end of my fingers now.

Crazy how such a small thing, can make a noticeable HUGE improvement in comfort when driving.

Just make sure its all the way back on the lobes, and not near the boot. Otherwise it will end up working great as a boot puller, not a CV puller :D

@TjAeCeOpMAmiah helped me get my snorkel properly mounted last night. Rivets all in place, some RTV to try and keep it from leaking and holding water in the rivets.

I have some marine silicone left over from my roof rack install that might be good to put around the outer edge of that bracket, and maybe even a thin layer over top of the rivets. Especially considering your love for winter driving, you wouldn't want salt water stuck under that bracket.

Yea I will spray it with undercoating this year to keep it from getting salt and shit all over it, since I care so little about how clean my truck is it wont matter.

I also put a layer of RTV under the bracket, hopefully seal it a bit better against the truck :notsure:

I have convinced myself that if I do not get it undercoated every single winter. I wont have it for the 35 years I want it for.

    Just have to stay convinced

    :lalala:

My wife said some what of the same thing to me the other night.

'You undercoat that thing so much, I am surprised any water touches it at all.'

You need your appointment before me next time. I always stoke the guy up with 'Spray it like you are painting it.' Then give him tips.

So he probably did the same over spray bs on you.

Put some time into my new to me bumper. Few more hours before I can even take it to sand blasting and powder coating.

Had to rub some of the 'patina' off with my grinder.

It is going to be powder coated orange.

    :ohsnap:
