    Two part question -

I want to add a class III hitch to my rear bumper and wanted your insight on how I should have it done so its structurally sound.

My assumption is a brace on each end of the hitch receiver towards the frame in the form of a V.

I'm not a structural guy so maybe you guys can tell me what I should have a welder do for me.

Second part, maybe a link to where you'd buy said parts.

    Here's what we're working with -

Remind me about this in the morning. I think I have a picture of how it was done on a couple other off-road bumpers that might explain it better

If you are welding a square tube receiver to the bottom of the bumper I would brace it to the frame forward of the spare tire cross member though you could get away with mounting it to the frame brackets shown if you tow responsibly

Doesn’t that reduce the class rating of the hitch? Is CA strict with that during a visual inspection?

Way overkill but i would weld square tube across the rear most frame rail points....... (I've deleted all the ramblings I just typed because they made no sense and I don't know how to visually illustrate the pic in my head with words)

That's exactly what I was thinking (not sure I was clear in my explanation above?).

Just wanted to get a second opinion in case my thoughts were way off.

Safety is my number one concern which is why I came here to ask you guys.

If you cut the ears off the hitch and just weld it to the bumpers ears and to the bumper plate that should work. It's more weight and you're gonna need more than the two bolts per side on the frame. Unless there are more that I can't see.

Or that you've been lifting too much weight and/or bench presses.
