Salida: Might be a little late in the year but that’s where the Monarch Crest trail/route is. It’s amazing. Skip out before Rainbow though unless you want a really big day.

Friuita/GJ: Def skip 18 road, as someone else suggested, unless blue trails is your upper limit.

Moab: Definitely ride Captain Ahab. The Hymasa/Ahab loop can be short if your strong so consider adding Cliffhanger/Pothole/Rockstacker then back to Ahab. whatever parts of The Whole
enchilada are rideable. Mag 7 is also good but requires more endurance than TWE. That would be a very solid 3 days.

Nice list. If you don't mind a little climbing, Pass Trail to Engineer Mountain Trail near Durango is worth it for great flow and awesome scenery, as well:
    https://www.trailforks.com/route/en...vitytype=1&z=12.4&lat=37.68365&lon=-107.79046

Recommend shuttling it if you can. Either that, or you can try to hitch a ride or make the long climb back up the road when your finished.

    Some inspiration for this route:

Trying to decide what’s more important right now, truck stuff or bike stuff.
I am considering starting to gather the pieces needed to convert my gravel bike to SRAM AXS.
Anybody make the jump? Worth it? Every run into battery or Bluetooth connection issues?

I was hoping you’d say the system was riddled with problems so I wouldn’t be tempted to drop $2k on the conversion .
Thanks for that input. I was a little reluctant to go wireless, but I have only read 1 instance of the system failing, and it was easily fixed by swapping a battery.

If you are happy with your drivetrain I wouldn't drop the money on it. I do like the AXS dropper a lot though.

I have XX1/X01 at the moment, but was perfectly happy with GX or SLX before.

I’m still waiting on a replacement frame to arrive for my gravel bike, but the build was a 2x Shimano 105. The lowest gear ratio I have is 32/34 so a little easier than 1:1. I was looking into 1x conversions for the simplicity and love the idea of a mullet drivetrain, but the only route is AXS. I may go a different route with Shimano GRX. It won’t give me as much of a gear range but it will be a lot cheaper since all my current parts would be compatible. I’d just need a 11-46 cassette and a derailleur.

I’ve done a few of those 4K+ days, and every damn one of them I started cramping right after passing the mark. How bad depended on how steep the climbs were. They’re always fun, fun in that type 2 kinda way.
Lots of people can blow past the 5k mark pretty easily, not me. I’ve learned that’s my limit.

I'll keep hammering away... I been having a fun creating routes on strava of local trails trying to get in the most climbing and best DH sections.

I haven't had any cramps while riding, but man I get night cramps all the time after big ride.
Something I need to look into a little more, lacking in something for sure.

Most likely magnesium. I assume you get plenty of sodium and calcium.

Indeed yes, hydrate like a pro, stretch, eat correctly. I just take a simple Mg pill every night.

Yea I do my best to get as much water as I can. Been living that low carb life past 3.5 years.
Which has been great for me from an energy/weight loss standpoint but I see where I could be lacking in certain minerals. Never really been a vitamin guy but might be time to look a little deeper, to prep the meat vehicle for peak performance.

anyone here ever attempt resoling their riding shoes or something? my soles on my flats are getting worn through pretty good. I love the shoes and their upper parts are great. but just the pins have eaten away at everything. damn pins and getting traction on my pedals!

Just catching up on the thread... REEB is back on dirt as of yesterday and I'm still dialing in the Helm coil fork. It'll take a bit of adjustment to re-acquaint my brain w/ coil fork but so far I dig the plush and rowdy mix. Time will tell...

Raced ORAMM SS a few weeks ago and left a lot out there in the Pisgah wilderness... Kitsuma lower is blown TF out w/ brake bumps all the way to the exit. Looks like someone put in a moguls run on that trail. First time racing it SS so I wasn't gunning for podium, but I now know where to target for next year.

"Impressive" doesn't fully encapsulate how I feel looking at that ride. That distance, time, and elevation would be heroic without using a single speed. Well done
