Plastic bedliner damage - any way to touch this up?

No worries. If you look around you'll probably find one for 80 or 90 bucks. You can do a long bed and cut it off. Who cares it's a lease. You're renting it.

holy shit...why lease a truck when you can't use it as a...truck? the bed is supposed to get scratched!

 

Gentlemen, I just splurged on a mountain hatch tailgate insert and now I want to replace the smaller molding on the end of the tailgate...

Is it the same as the 2nd gen. tailgate, just as the inserts are the same?

Any idea where I can get one for a decent price, OEM or aftermarket?

I found good deals on Fleabay but most of them show 2nd gen only, while a few show they work for both 2nd and 3rd gen; thanks

Couldn’t agree with you more. I don’t care how my bed looks at all, it’s all scratched and scuffed already. Looks better that way IMO.

Now my paint, is a different story...

 

I think they’re different sizes so no.

 

I moved an old freezer and bunch of other stuff which took a chip out of the wheel well. Nothing structurally compromising but I was going to use black plastic welder to touch it up. I'd sand a bit around the area, wipe with isopropyl and apply it. Whether it lasts or not, time will tell.

Ive leased a few vehicles over the years including 4Runners and Tacomas.
Minor curb rash , and minor dings or scuffs etc , are all normal wear and tear.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. I was never penalized for scratches or door dings etc..

Whats most important is returning ALL your keys, having no MAJOR body damage, and decent tires. And your mileage. They dont sweat the rest.

 

I agree, why don't you have a bed mat, they're like $80. Not only will keep bed bottom scratch-free, but stuff will stay in one place.

 

It’s a truck. Just don’t put a hole thru the floor. I think they would be shocked if the bed came back unscathed.

OP, it might be worth heading over to a specialty auto parts store or poking around on the Web. There are a ton of bed conditioners that might get those scratches out. I have not used any of them but they do seem to be popular. Might be good to treat the area and then put the OEM bed mat on top of it. That should ease your frustration.

I am with most people. Don't care about the bed -- but the paint is another issue altogether, for sure!

Had the same thing happen after hauling a few loads of lava rocks. No damage on the floor because of the bed mat... the scratches were on the side walls. As mentioned a black permanent marker makes it less noticeable.

 

Correct. Thats not going to do much for any scratches on a composite bed . Scratches are permanent. By design , scratches on composite are not avoidable. Its designed to be tough and lightweight. Bed scuffs and scratches are just normal wear .
A mat may help the bottom, but sides and gate still can get chewed up . .
