How long did you have to wait for your 2021 factory order?

Just received an email that the truck is in freight and expected week of August 30th. That matches up with their initial quote of ~2wks to deliver.

Yah, my friend (also the inventory manager) said he received an email from corporate that they won't likely begin 2022 builds until late October, but that was when he thought I'd be getting the new Pro. Could have been pro specific, but unlikely the case. September seems like a pipe dream considering they're building my '21 pro on the 19th of this month, but I do hope you're right!

 

Just got a text from my sales guy out of the blue. "ETA 25th August to 29th August". Guess I'm booking that weekend off now for sure!

Sure but mine is a bit of a fluke. As it was tough locating tacomas in my area (south western Ontario, Canada) my biggest challenge was to find an OR with the premium package mainly because of the power seat. Wanted to see if I fit as I'm tall.

Drove past a local dealer and they had a white OR with the premium and scheduled a test drive. Fit perfectly! Told my salesman it was just what I wanted but wasn't acceptable in white. I was prepared to wait for the 2022's.

That was late June. A day after, he contacted me saying they had a TRD Pro in Lunar Rock allocated to them for the end of July. Of course with the ongoing mark ups on MSRP I wasn't too interested. One dealer not to far away told me they had one coming in and were going to put $7000 mark up on it. Canadian dollars here folks.

Asked the sales rep the MSRP and he told me $56,830 which is the Canadian MSRP. Took me a couple of weeks to decide and commit as I was really only looking for the OR. I truly figured there would be a bump up on price and he didn't realize that since he is rather green in the industry.

July 26th, dropped a deposit off. I saw the the print out of the delivery schedule which actually said August 24th. I winked at the salesman, letting him know his trick saying July for delivery got me in. July 29th, signed the paperwork with some added options. Still the same MSRP so I wasn't saying anything about the price.

Again, this was already allocated to them. How it went so long without someone jumping on it sooner was most likely because not too many new ones show up around here so no one was looking at future orders.

Should have my VIN next week.

Yes, me too. Considering two somewhat local dealers have a new 2021 Sport without the premium package is listed $2500 more than what I paid for my Pro and a used 2021 sport with premium and 17000kms for $1000 more than what I paid I will not say anything about the price I paid. I'm very content!

 

Same here, they advertised $2000 above MSRP. I deposited for SR5 4X4 on June 30th just $150 bellow MSRP. I wasted to negotiate price to prevent them bumping up after arrival. Dealer told it will be here Aug 26-sep 8. Lets see.

 

I posted this yesterday. Being neurotic, I looked it up again today and it's showing a midnight black trd pro w/ bed lights. Should I be worried that somewhere along the way, they swapped my truck with something else, or should I simply not trust the inventory search on toyota.com?

 

Relax. They didn't change your truck.

 

How can I relax? Based on this thread, they are all out to get us! I'm chill, but stranger things have happened.

Are you saying the temp vin you put in brings up a different truck or you looked up the Toyota website and the truck isn’t on there anymore for inventory?

 

This is what it shows when I type in the VIN. The trucks that are on the website change daily when looking at inventory for your area. So once it goes into production it is removed from their website.

 

Whoa that's actually really promising. Where was your build location again? Maybe mine is coming sooner than I thought. We had the same build date (aka temp vin stop date), but my dealer told me like the second week of September. That would be so amazing to have it in two weeks from now though!

 

Yah, exactly. It was in the inventory for my area, now it's gone. Haven't seen a pro in there for a long time, so when I black one popped up instead of mine, it was slightly concerning. I'll now take it as a good sign. Thanks!

 

I hope us last-minute 2021 dudes don't get dud trucks as they're scrambling to make room for 2022 production!

 

What would make it a dud?

 

It was built in San Antonio. I'm surprised they'd get it to central Maine that quickly since it's essentially as far as you can get from San Antonio in thr continental US.
